#Scent — Fallen Sky

A celestial is a being of the divine realm (神界). It has no original reason to be on human earth. But when yoma energy overflows into the present world, part of a divine nature (神格) falls down. It sets aside its role in the divine realm for a time and borrows a human body, or rather makes a vessel close to a human body, then sets foot in the present world.

At first, a celestial is strong. Every attribute is evenly high, and its power to cut yoma is sharper than anyone's. But the longer it remains in the present world, the fainter its divine nature becomes. Attribute values are shaved away one by one, and heavenly Divine Authority is finite and does not return. This is the celestial's "descending curve": a strong start and gradual weakening.

But becoming weaker is not always bad. Human experience fills the place where divine nature disappears. The celestial's journey is "a story of a god learning humanity," and at the end waits the Renown Title called Ascension (昇天).

  • Recommended Weapons: chokuto (straight blade, the straightness of divine nature), vajra (Mikkyo implement), kodachi (flexible adaptation)
  • Recommended Schools: Seishin-ryu (matches Divine Authority preservation), none (heavenly self-taught style)
  • Recommended Faction Traits: Heiankyo (cooperation with exorcism organizations), neutral (wandering descender)

#Law — Trait List

#1st Dan: Heavenly Light (天上の光) [aptitude]

[aptitude] Heavenly Light (天上の光)
Effect: Remaining divine power. Constant effects:
 - Descending curve: after applying allocation, all attributes +1 (total +9).
At each even rank-up (2/4/6/8/Tatsujin), -1 instead of +1. Start with the highest attribute (choose on ties).
→ at 6th dan, cross with ordinary PCs (total +6). At Tatsujin, total +4.
 - Divine nature: attacks against yoma deal Wounds +1. Attacks against humans deal Wounds -1 (minimum 0).
 - Divine Authority (權能): start 5, maximum 5. No natural recovery. Spend 1 Divine Authority to choose 1:
  (a) unlimited Energy for one breath (b) complete Wound recovery
  (c) zone purification (d) divine strike (yoma +3 Wounds)
→ Divine Authority 0: divine nature disappears.
 - No present-world adaptation: Negotiation -3. Cannot understand money/status/customs.
 - Yoma resonance: automatically detect yoma within 3 zones. Automatically identify grade/weakness.

Divine Punishment (神罰)[Kata]41/roundYoma only. 2d10+Intimidation+Exorcism >= Defense. 4 Wounds + cannot act for 1 breath. Minion-grade yoma are instantly purified. Spend 1 Divine Authority.

#9th-Dan Extreme Traits (choose 1)

TraitTypeEnergyLimitEffect
Maintain Divinity (神格維持)[aptitude]Stop the descending curve. From now on, rank-ups do not reduce attributes (and do not increase them). Divine Authority naturally recovers 1/day. Divine nature becomes permanent. "The path of remaining a god."
Human Completion (人間完成)[aptitude]Completely remove no present-world adaptation. Negotiation penalty 0. Immediately restore 2 points among lost attributes (free allocation). Squad Cohesion +3. "The path of becoming human."

#Renown Title: Ascension (昇天) [aptitude] Constant

[aptitude] Ascension (昇天) — celestial-only Renown Title. Condition: reach Tatsujin.
 - Restore 5 lost points + 5 growth points → total +10 free allocation (individual cap +5).
 - Fully recover Divine Authority 5. Divine nature becomes permanent. Remove no present-world adaptation.
 - Integrate both benefits regardless of 9th-dan choice. "Strongest within the rules, not transcendence outside the rules."

#Extreme Strengths

  • Strongest early versatility. All attributes +1 makes every check above average. At 1~3 dan, the party's strongest force.
  • Anti-yoma specialization. Divine nature's Wounds +1 + Divine Authority's divine strike (+3 Wounds) = unmatched firepower against yoma.
  • Divine Authority burst power. Unlimited Energy, complete Wound recovery, zone purification: 5 miracles can overturn combat.
  • Detection ability. Automatic yoma detection within 3 zones + grade/weakness identification. Core of information warfare.

#Extreme Weaknesses

  • Descending curve. Attributes -1 at each even rank-up. After 6th dan, weaker than ordinary PCs.
  • Divine Authority does not recover. No natural recovery. After 5 uses, divine nature itself disappears. Fatal in long battles/serial battles.
  • No present-world adaptation. Negotiation -3 makes social checks effectively impossible. Cannot handle party diplomacy.
  • Human attack penalty. Against human enemies, Wounds -1. Combat efficiency drops sharply against non-yoma enemies.
  • Growth anxiety. Psychological pressure from growing weaker beside companions who grow stronger.

#Typical Breath Pattern (3rd Dan, Chokuto)

Count 12 — First breath:
 chokuto attack(2) + Purifying Touch(2) = 4
→ yoma 2 Wounds (+1 divine nature) + zone purification

Count 8 — Second breath:
spend Divine Authority: divine strike → chokuto attack(2) = 2
→ yoma weapon Wounds + 3 Wounds (divine strike) + 1 Wound (divine nature) = large-yoma weak point

Count 4 — Third breath:
 chokuto attack(2) + reservation: defense(1) = 3
→ yoma 2 Wounds + prepare counterattack. Save remaining Energy.

Remaining Energy: 14 (including all attributes +1) - 4 - 2 - 3 = 5 (Divine Authority remaining: 4)

#Zone Bonuses

ZoneBonus
Front ZoneDivine nature applies automatically when yoma approach. Purifying Touch range reaches the Core Zone. Contributes to Domination.
Core ZoneFree entry. Yoma resonance nullifies ambushes. Main use case for divine strike.
Rear ZoneWith Heavenly Eye, monitors the entire battlefield. Divine Authority-conserving play. However, firepower is better in Front Zone/Core Zone.

#Three Ways and Six Hearts Conflict

The celestial's central drama is a god's journey to learn humanity.

  • "What is a human?" At first, the celestial cannot understand emotions, customs, or desires. Roleplay one "human discovery" each session.
  • Loss of divinity: each time attributes decrease, memories of the divine realm fade. Is this loss, or liberation?
  • Distance from companions: Negotiation -3 is not just a penalty. Even sincerity sounds cold. A bond begins only when companions reach out first.
  • Resonance with yoma: detection ability is convenient, but yoma also feel the celestial. Strong yoma recognize the celestial as "prey."
  • Final conflict: return or remain. At Ascension, the celestial already understands humans. Return to the sky, or remain on human earth? The most dramatic choice.

"When I descended from the sky, I came to cut down yoma. Learning humans was not part of the plan."
