#4 Yoma Partners

Contents

Beings of the Spirit Realm love by a different Law. And that Law is not necessarily good for humans. Even so, the name of love can hold on both sides — if one is prepared for the danger.

Safety Reconfirmation

Union with a yoma partner may entail the PC's Transformation. This means permanent changes to the character's physicality and Heart structure. Player consent in advance is mandatory. It is recommended to confirm "whether the Transformation Ending is acceptable" in Session 0. Some yoma partners allow only Separation or Tragedy endings — refer to the relevant partner entry.

#Common Rules for Yoma Romance

#The Relationship Between Negotiation and Romance

The Spirit Realm Intelligences Negotiation rules are a prerequisite. If Negotiation results in a critical failure, that yoma becomes a permanent enemy — romance is impossible. Romance may only be entered after the first successful Negotiation.

#Affinity Entry Difficulty

Yoma partners have a higher starting difficulty than human partners (difficulty 6–9, starting Affinity 0). However, Affinity once raised is more stable than with humans — fewer emotional fluctuations. The exception is a sharp drop when Hearts conflict.

#The Proposition of Transgression, Taboo, and Otherworldly Union

A relationship with a yoma partner is inherently taboo. If domain-internal information leaks, Akihisa and Gensho will warn or intervene. Yoma partners:

  • Have a decisive influence on the PC's ending
  • Mostly lead toward the Transformation Ending
  • Some allow only a Tragedy Ending

#The Weight of Taboo

The moment the relationship with a yoma is made official, the domain responds:

  • Resident morale -2 (1 incident)
  • Akihisa's Affinity -2
  • Gensho's onmyoji intervention (warning or attempt to seal)
  • Automatic Affinity drop for other romance partners (-1 per partner)

This response is part of the narrative in which romance itself breaks the rules of the world. The PC must bear this cost.

#Stages of Transformation

The deeper the bond with a yoma partner, the more the PC itself becomes of the Spirit Realm:

AffinityTransformation Stage
0~5None
6~7Stage 1: eye color change, shadow anomaly, Spirit Realm Perception +1
8~9Stage 2: body temperature anomaly, shortened sleep, discomfort in human society
10Stage 3: half-yoma. Transformation Ending confirmed

Each stage is a permanent change. Even if Affinity drops, it does not revert. Prior notification to the player is mandatory.

#1. Kagura — The Revived Girl of Reviving Hell

Kagura, girl of repeated rebirth, complete upper body from head to waist, patched white kimono with broad blank skin and cloth areas, body edges partly broken as if fading, a.

#Scent — She Who Dies Every Day and Returns Every Day

Kagura lives in Reviving Hell. Her appearance is that of a fifteen-year-old girl. But she dies every day — she is a being who repeats ten thousand deaths in accordance with the Law of Reviving Hell. She dies every day and rises again every day. With each death, she loses a little more of her memory.

What she currently remembers is her own name, a few faces, and the texture of the feeling called "I like you." Nothing beyond that can be held. The day the PC meets her is her O-th life.

#Basic Information

  • Age: Appears 15 (actual age unknown; possibly thousands of years)
  • Affiliation: Reviving Hell — under Senmangu (千万苦)
  • Preferred Heart: 慈
  • Rejected Heart: 覇 · 魔
  • Base Difficulty: 6
  • Starting Affinity: 0
  • Transformation Path: Very strong (confirmed Transformation upon reaching Stage 10)

#Appearance

A fifteen-year-old girl. About 150cm tall. Pale and translucent skin — sunlight passes through. Silver hair. Light purple eyes. Her clothing is a white kimono patched over and over from repeated revivals. The scars of wounds acquired with each daily death are woven throughout the garment.

Her body is a little different each time. One day a blade scar on the right hand; the next, a Burn on the left chest. Kagura herself finds this unremarkable.

#Speech

The speech of a young girl. Yet on certain topics (death, repetition, memory), the wisdom of thousands of years briefly surfaces. Mostly drops honorifics; direct expression.

#Affinity Stage Attitude Changes

AffinityAttitude
0~2"Who are you?" — as if meeting for the first time every time
3~5Remembers. Calls by name
6~7Picks flowers and gives them. Holds hands for a long time
8~9"Please stay with me today too" — requests company during the hour of death
10Transformation proposal — "Let's live together"

#Approach Conditions

  • Enter Reviving Hell (Chapter 3 or later, after completing Senmangu Negotiation)
  • Kagura often appears in the flower field at the entrance to Reviving Hell
  • At first encounter, she is startled by the fact that the PC is "alive"

#Affinity Changes — Kagura Unique

#Rising Factors

ActionIncrease
Being present at the moment of her death+3
Writing a memory diary (helping restore her memory)+2
Giving flowers or sweets+1
Telling her stories of the human world+1
Calling her intimately by "you"+0.5

#Falling Factors

ActionDecrease
Turning away at the moment of her death-3
Calling her "an undying monster"-5 (lethal)
Excessive possessiveness (attempting to have her alone)-2
Attempting to take her to the domain-3 (cannot leave Reviving Hell)

#Stage 2 Event — "The Memory Diary of the Flower Field"

Unlock: Affinity 4.

Scene: The PC repeatedly visits Kagura in the Reviving Hell flower field. She starts fresh each time, but when the PC shows her the diary, she is delighted — "Oh, this happened."

Content:

"What are you doing with this diary? Are you remembering in my place?

…Then I'm not wasting time here. Something new and joyful happens for you every day.

I like that. Today I'll create something new for you too."

Check: Wisdom or Bearing. On success, Affinity +2 + partial recovery of Kagura's memory (the PC is recognized from the next visit onward).

#Stage 3 Event — "The Hour of Death"

Unlock: Affinity 6.

Scene: Kagura asks the PC, "Will you stay with me?" — at the moment she dies.

Content:

As the sun sets, Kagura's body begins to grow thin. The daily death.

"Please don't be frightened. It doesn't hurt either. It's just…I disappear. And tomorrow I wake up again.

Will you be by my side? Just for today, so I don't disappear alone."

Check: Bearing. If the PC endures (Mental Save 2d10 + Courage >= 12, core-book Fear rules), success:

  • Affinity +3
  • Enter Stage 3
  • Kagura's revival the next day occurs with her memory of the PC fully intact — permanent from then on

On failure, the PC panics and flees from the sight of Kagura's death. Affinity -2.

#Stage 4 Event — "The Thousandth Night"

Unlock: Affinity 8.

Scene: Kagura says, "Tonight is…a special night." A commemoration of her having woken three times in a row without losing her memory.

Content:

"How long have I been carrying my memories like this…I don't know.

It's because of you. As long as you are watching me, I don't forget myself.

So I have a request. Please live together with me. You don't have to live here. Wherever you are, if my days are connected to you…that is what I want."

Check: None. The PC's response.

  • Accept: Stage 4. Transformation Stage 1 activates (the PC's eyes become the same light purple as Kagura's). Affinity +2.
  • Refuse: Affinity -1. Kagura tries to understand but keeps her distance from the next meeting.

#Stage 5 — Transformation Union

Conditions to reach Affinity 10:

  • After Stage 4, in Chapters 4–5, the PC takes Kagura's side in Negotiation with Senmangu
  • Permission for the PC's name to be registered in the records of Reviving Hell as "Kagura's companion" (Senmangu Negotiation)
  • Intent to choose Ending C (Transformation)

Upon union:

  • PC Stage 3 Transformation: Half-revived body. The PC also dies and rises again every day (only within Reviving Hell).
  • Ending C confirmed. The PC remains in the Spirit Realm with Kagura. Return to the domain is impossible.
  • If there was a human partner, automatic Separation.

#Kagura Unique Ending — "The Archive of Memory"

When Affinity 10 is reached:

  • Kagura entrusts all her memories to the PC. Her thousands of years enter the PC's mind.
  • These memories include the stories of previous drifters — a source of historical information secured.
  • However, there is a possibility of partial memory loss for the PC from the weight of the memories (check).

#Tragedy Branch — "Senmangu's Intervention"

  • If Senmangu refuses to allow Kagura to leave the records: Kagura's Transformation union is sealed.
  • In this case, the PC can only maintain Kagura as a different encounter every session. Affinity cap of 8.
  • The typical ending is Kagura's permanent memory loss → only the PC remembers her.

#Safety Guidelines

  • Appearing 15 years old is the exterior form of a Spirit Realm being. Her actual age is thousands of years. This ambiguity is part of the theme.
  • Adult depictions are grounded in the nature of the being, not the appearance — or omitted entirely. Table agreement required.
  • The repeated death depictions are heavy — confirm Fear tolerance in Session 0.

#GM Tips

  • A slightly different Kagura each time: Make subtle variations to her appearance, clothing, and memory state at every encounter. Let players feel "Why is she different from yesterday?"
  • The moment of death, slowly: Do not rush the process of her fading away. 1–2 minutes of silence creates weight.
  • The weight of permanent Transformation: Repeatedly emphasize that changes like the PC's eye color shift cannot be undone.

#2. Ryukage — The Young Naga of Black Rope

Ryukage, young naga of the Black Rope realm, complete upper body from head to waist, human face left white, scale pattern limited to clothing and shoulder silhouette, one weighing.

#Scent — The Young Intelligence of the Scale

Ryukage is from Black Rope Hell. A disciple of Hakario (秤王). His appearance is the upper body of a twenty-eight-year-old man plus a long black-scaled tail (naga form). His upper body alone stands 180cm; total length exceeds 3m.

He is a candidate to succeed Hakario. Intellectual, a lover of truth, unable to endure Deceit. He is not well-disposed to outsiders — he was raised under Hakario's strict training.

#Basic Information

  • Age: Appears 28 (actual age approximately 200)
  • Affiliation: Black Rope Hell — Hakario's disciple
  • Preferred Heart: 眞 · 覇
  • Rejected Heart: 虛
  • Base Difficulty: 8
  • Starting Affinity: 0
  • Transformation Path: Moderate (at Stage 5, partial scales appear on the PC's skin)

#Appearance

Upper body is masculine, muscular. His face is the cold handsome type — high cheekbones, sharp eyes, long black hair. Eyes are gold. Small horns at both temples.

Lower body is naga — a long serpentine body covered in black scales. The scales are regular, patterned like surveying marks.

His clothing is a formal black robe of the Black Rope Hell administration. Long sleeves with a gold-thread surveying pattern on the hem.

#Speech

Precise Japanese. Heavy use of classical vocabulary. Honorifics by default; plain speech only for those with high Affinity. Voice is low and calm.

#Affinity Stage Attitude Changes

AffinityAttitude
0~2"A human." — observation subject
3~5Accepts heated debate and scholarly discussion
6~7Reveals the kanji of his own name (until then called only "the young scholar")
8~9Acknowledges as a joint research partner
10Transformation proposal or Black Rope companionship union

#Approach Conditions

  • Black Rope Hell (Chapter 2 or later) + Hakario Negotiation completed
  • Hakario's permission is required — on first meeting, Hakario makes the introduction
  • Ryukage himself must accept the dialogue before entry is possible

#Affinity Changes — Ryukage Unique

#Rising Factors

ActionIncrease
Choosing truth's side in scholarly debate+2
Speaking without Deceit+1 (眞 alignment)
Sharing core-book and Spirit Realm knowledge+1
Expressing respect for Hakario+0.5
Exposing an unfair contract+3 (his cause)

#Falling Factors

ActionDecrease
Deceit is perceived-3
Insulting Hakario-4 (near lethal)
Arguments that appeal to emotion-1 (he wants logic)
Asserting the "superiority" of the human world-2

#Stage 2 Event — "The Dialogue of Measurement"

Unlock: Affinity 4.

Scene: Ryukage invites the PC near the scales of Black Rope Hell. A scholarly dialogue, just the two of them.

Content:

"The scale has no bias. That is the greatest thing I have learned.

Is there no scale in the human world? Is there a scale without bias?

…If not, that is humanity's flaw. If there is — tell me."

Check: Wisdom. On success, Affinity +2. On great success, Ryukage transmits 1 Black Rope measurement technique to the PC (NPC Heart measurement possible).

#Stage 3 Event — "The Revealing of the Name"

Unlock: Affinity 6.

Scene: Ryukage reveals the kanji of his true name to the PC — "Ryukage (柳影)."

Content:

"The disciples of the scale had no names. Until Hakario-sama gave them.

This name is mine — it is what I protect. The reason I tell you is that I have measured on the scale that you are one who will not commit Deceit upon this name.

I grant you the right to call this name."

Check: Bearing. On success, Stage 3 + Affinity +2. Thereafter the PC may address Ryukage as "Ryukage" (others remain at "the young scholar").

#Stage 4 Event — "The Night of Scales"

Unlock: Affinity 8.

Scene: Ryukage invites the PC to a deep library in Black Rope Hell. There he plucks a single scale and offers it.

Content:

"This scale is part of my body. One who holds this stands upon my scale.

If you wish to stand at my side, receive this scale. From then on, you and I are upon the same weight.

…Even if you refuse, the relationship continues. But this scale will not be given to anyone else."

Check: None.

  • Accept: Stage 4. Transformation Stage 1: A small black scale pattern forms on the inside of the PC's wrist. Affinity +2.
  • Refuse: Affinity -1. Ryukage quietly closes the library. The relationship is fixed at Affinity 7.

#Stage 5 — Union

Conditions to reach Affinity 10:

  • After Stage 4, the PC officially declares to be Ryukage's companion in front of Hakario
  • Passing Hakario's test (truth measurement, 3 times)
  • Accepting Ending C (Transformation)

Upon union:

  • PC Stage 3 Transformation: Part of the lower body becomes scaled. Activity in human society is impossible.
  • The PC and Ryukage work together as "surveyors" in Black Rope Hell.
  • Ending C confirmed.

#Ryukage Unique Ending — "Companions of Two Scales"

When Affinity 10 is reached:

  • The PC and Ryukage are appointed dual heirs of Hakario.
  • The two carry on the surveying enterprise together — managing contractual fairness across the entire Spirit Realm.
  • This position carries the condition that return to the domain is impossible. Ending C fixed.

#Tragedy Branch — "Hakario's Refusal"

  • If Hakario refuses the union (PC's Heart tends toward 虛, or excessive Deceit history):
  • Ryukage follows "the master's will." Relationship ends.
  • The PC remains in Transformation Stage 1 (cannot be undone).
  • Tragic ending. Ryukage does not meet the PC thereafter.
  • Ryukage's Rebellion: An extremely rare path. Ryukage defies Hakario and follows the PC. In this case, all of Black Rope Hell pursues the PC and Ryukage — transition to an adversarial ending. Dramatic, but dangerous.

#Safety Guidelines

  • Ryukage's naga form (serpent) may be a Fear element. Confirm in advance.
  • Scale Transformation is a change to PC physicality. Player consent is mandatory.
  • Depictions of Hakario's strict structure may be read as coercion within a master-disciple relationship — handle with balance.

#GM Tips

  • The language of logic: Ryukage's romance scenes are primarily scholarly dialogue. The relationship is built on logic, not emotion. This difference is the appeal.
  • The detail of scales: Describe how his scales reflect light, their texture. Make the strangeness sensory.
  • Hakario's gaze: Maintain Hakario's implicit surveillance as a background element in scenes involving Ryukage. The space the two share is never entirely theirs alone.

#3. Namibe — The Fisherman's Soul of Screaming Hell

Namibe, old fisherman's spirit, complete upper body from head to waist, worn fishing net across one shoulder, hollow but gentle expression, sea sound suggested by two black wave.

#Scent — The Weeping Old Man

Namibe is the soul of an old fisherman who dwells on the shore of Screaming Hell. He appears as a man in his 70s. Kirenu (切嘆)'s close friend — both are residents of Screaming Hell.

He is one of the previous drifters. Hundreds of years ago, when the domain fell into the Spirit Realm, he was a fisherman who fell into Screaming Hell and was transformed. He left his family behind in the domain, and now even their names are faint. But only the grief he cannot forget keeps him in existence.

#Basic Information

  • Age: Appears in his 70s (actual age approximately 300, after becoming a soul)
  • Affiliation: Screaming Hell — under Kirenu
  • Preferred Heart: 虛 · 慈
  • Rejected Heart: 覇
  • Base Difficulty: 5
  • Starting Affinity: 0
  • Transformation Path: Almost none — Tragedy and Separation tendency

#Appearance

A man in his 70s. Short, with a stooped back. A translucent body — the soul of Screaming Hell. A deeply wrinkled face; eyes always moist. White hair, a short topknot.

His clothing is the fisherman's dress of 300 years ago — a rough hemp everyday kimono, rope at his waist. In his hands, an old fishing net. Nothing catches in the net (he knows this but will not let go).

#Speech

Old speech. Archaic Japanese. Does not use honorifics — he was once a commoner. Voice low and trembling. A faint sob is woven into the end of every utterance.

#Affinity Stage Attitude Changes

AffinityAttitude
0~2Does not look up. Only tends the net
3~5Accepts greetings. Short conversation
6~7Talks about his old family. Recalls wife's and children's names
8~9Requests peaceful passing from PC or permits PC to sit beside him
10Accompanies to peaceful passing — the PC completes his peaceful passing

#Approach Conditions

  • Screaming Hell (Chapter 3 or later) + Kirenu Negotiation completed or shore visited
  • Namibe often sits on rocks at the Screaming Hell shore
  • At first encounter, he may mistake the PC for his own son of long ago — this scene is the beginning of identity

#Affinity Changes — Namibe Unique

#Rising Factors

ActionIncrease
Listening to his story all the way to the end+2
Repairing his net together+1
Describing the current state of the domain (conveying whether his descendants are alive)+3
Remembering and calling the names of his wife and children+2
Quiet, silent companionship+0.5

#Falling Factors

ActionDecrease
Cutting off his story-2
Saying something like "That is already over"-3
Attempting to take him to the domain (impossible)-2
Attempting to take the net-5 (lethal)

#Stage 2 Event — "The Song Thrown to the Sea"

Unlock: Affinity 4.

Scene: Namibe sings an old fisherman's song from a rock on the shore. The PC listens if able.

Content:

"This song — my wife taught it to me.

My wife told me to sing this whenever I went out to sea. She said if the sea heard the song it would send me back.

…The sea sent me back here. Not to my wife."

Check: Music or Bearing. On success, Affinity +2. On great success, the PC learns Namibe's song — it can calm the spirits in Screaming Hell.

#Stage 3 Event — "Mending the Net"

Unlock: Affinity 6.

Scene: Namibe asks the PC to help mend the net.

Content:

"This net is 300 years old. My wife made it.

If you help me continue it, this 300-year-old knot accepts a new knot.

…I once thought of this net as my child. They say children carry on their fathers, and I thought this net was carrying me on. A foolish thought."

Check: aptitude (craftsman) or hand tool. On success, Stage 3 + Affinity +2. Thereafter the PC holds a net fragment — Screaming Hell climate defense +1.

#Stage 4 Event — "The Petition for Peaceful Passing"

Unlock: Affinity 8.

Scene: Namibe's first and last request of the PC.

Content:

"You are my guest. I have come to think of you…as my son. I am sorry. This old man has overstepped.

I have one request. Grant this old man peaceful passing. I have been here for 300 years. I want to meet my wife. I want to meet my children. I want to put this net down.

If you stay with me for one season…I can pass in peace. That is what I ask of you, in the end."

Check: Bearing.

  • Accept + success: Stage 4 confirmed. The PC stays in Screaming Hell one season, accompanying Namibe. Affinity +2.
  • Accept + failure: Stage 4 entered, but peaceful passing impossible. Tragedy tendency.
  • Refuse: Affinity -2. Namibe nods as if he understands. The relationship may end.

#Stage 5 — Accompanying to Peaceful Passing

Conditions to reach Affinity 10:

  • Accept the Stage 4 peaceful passing petition + one season of companionship
  • Recovery of the names of Namibe's wife and children
  • Learning Kirenu's song and singing it to Namibe

Union (?) — in this case "union" is the joint completion of peaceful passing:

  • Namibe quietly disappears. Not destruction, but liberation.
  • His net remains with the PC — a relic.
  • The PC does not undergo Transformation.
  • This path is a tragic liberation: the partner is lost, but he has found peace.

#Namibe Unique Ending — "Heir of the Net"

When Affinity 10 is reached + accompanied to peaceful passing:

  • Namibe's net remains in the PC's hands — a relic of the main-story world.
  • When the PC returns to the main story, they seek out Namibe's descendants (heirs 300 years later) and deliver the net — a grand narrative resolution.
  • If the PC remains in the Spirit Realm, the net is re-dedicated on the Screaming Hell shore — to Kirenu.

#Tragedy Branch — "Peaceful Passing Failure"

  • If during the one-season companionship the PC prioritizes chapter progression and leaves, Namibe's peaceful passing fails.
  • Namibe becomes fixed as an eternal part of Screaming Hell. Even if the PC meets him again, his memory is lost.
  • PC Three Ways and Six Hearts 虛 +2, 慈 -1 (lack of consideration).

#Safety Guidelines

  • Namibe's grief is the emotion of permanent loss — it may weigh heavily on players.
  • The peaceful passing scene is depicted as a positive form of death — liberation, not destruction.
  • The phrase "like a son" has the character of familial love rather than romance — make it clear this relationship is not sexual romance. Interpret "romance" in its broad sense (deep bond).

#GM Tips

  • Time of silence: Namibe's scenes are about silence over words. The core is 20 minutes of description in which the PC and he sit side by side looking at the sea.
  • The symbolism of the net: The net is his identity. Bring the net back into the light at every encounter.
  • The ritual quality of peaceful passing: One season of companionship is in practice 3–4 sessions of accumulated short scenes. 10 minutes with him per session.
  • This relationship may not be romance: With the player's agreement, it can be redefined as a "spiritual father-child relationship." The reason it is included in the romance section is to show the diversity of deep bonds.

#4. Homura — The Flame Spirit of Shonetsu

Homura, flame spirit of the scorching realm, complete upper body from head to waist, hair and sleeve edges shaped like black flame silhouettes, skin left untouched white, one.

#Scent — The Nature of Flame

Homura is the flame spirit of Scorching Heat Hell. Appearance is a human form of indeterminate gender. A fragment of Honoome (炎女), or an independent fire spirit. If Honoome is "the ash maiden," Homura is "the living flame."

He/she has no concept of age. Emotions are pure and ferocious. If loved, they burn; if hated, they burn. There is no middle ground.

#Basic Information

  • Age: Ageless
  • Affiliation: Scorching Heat Hell — Honoome's fragment/kin
  • Preferred Heart: 覇 · 眞
  • Rejected Heart: 虛 · 慈
  • Base Difficulty: 9 (highest difficulty)
  • Starting Affinity: 0
  • Transformation Path: Very strong (PC's body temperature rises at Stage 8 or above; flame transformation at Stage 10)

#Appearance

Appearance is a human form of indeterminate gender. 170cm. Skin glows translucent red — flame flows from within. Hair is living, moving flame. Eyes emit white light. No clothing — flame itself wraps the body.

Approach causes a rapid surge in perceived temperature. Without a fire-element save, being nearby is difficult.

#Speech

Short and hot. No honorifics. Direct emotional expression. Voice is a low or high tone (fluid) mixed with the sound of burning flame.

#Affinity Stage Attitude Changes

AffinityAttitude
0~2"Going to burn?" — warning
3~5Approach permitted. Bonfire together
6~7Permits touching (heat resistance required)

10Transformation union — PC partially becomes flame

#Approach Conditions

  • Scorching Heat Hell (Chapter 4 or later) + Honoome Negotiation completed
  • Heat-resistance equipment or spell is mandatory (protection of Ryozan and Myoen)
  • Homura lives in the volcanic crater of Shonetsu

#Affinity Changes — Homura Unique

#Rising Factors

ActionIncrease
Not fearing fire+2
Respecting the ferocity of flame+1
Expressing reverence for Honoome+1
PC offers a gift of flame (a master craftsman's blade, fine iron)+3
PC is honest+1 (眞 alignment)

#Falling Factors

ActionDecrease
Attempting to extinguish the flame with water-5 (lethal)
Calling him/her "a dangerous thing"-3
Avoiding Approach-1
Emphasizing compassion-1 (慈 rejection)

#Stage 2 Event — "The Night of the Bonfire"

Unlock: Affinity 4.

Scene: Homura proposes to the PC, "Want to try burning together?" Beside a small crater of Shonetsu.

Content:

"If I touch you, you burn. But you want to touch me. Why is that.

…People look for the way to live, but you look for the way to die.

Fine…sit. Next to me. Don't touch me. This much won't burn you."

Check: Mental Save or Bearing. On success, Affinity +2. On failure, the PC pulls back; Affinity -0.5.

#Stage 3 Event — "The Name of Flame"

Unlock: Affinity 6.

Scene: Homura reveals their name for the first time (Homura = 焔).

Content:

"I had a name. I'd forgotten. Honoome-sama gave it to me. Or I might have stolen it. Either way, it doesn't matter.

Homura. That's my name. You call it too. When called, I burn the way that name says. That is the rule of names."

Check: Bearing. On success, Stage 3 entered. The PC earns the right to call Homura's name.

#Stage 4 Event — "The Flame Oath"

Unlock: Affinity 8.

Scene: Homura gives the PC permission to touch them. A heat-resistance spell is mandatory.

Content:

"Give me your hand. I can control it so you don't burn. Just once.

My heart is flame. Your heart is water and muscle. We are different. Different, but we meet. Yet the moment we meet, one burns and one goes out.

I want you to burn. Do you want it too? Then let's start. If you don't…I'm here and you're there. That is the limit."

Check: Physique save (heat resistance). On success:

  • PC Burn Stage 1 (treatable)
  • Holds Homura's hand
  • Enter Stage 4, Affinity +2
  • Transformation Stage 2 activates: PC's body temperature permanently rises, sleep duration shortens

On failure:

  • PC Burn Stage 3 (physician needed)
  • Homura says "Sorry. I couldn't control it. I wanted too much" — Affinity unchanged, but the next attempt is more careful.

#Stage 5 — Transformation Union

Conditions to reach Affinity 10:

  • After Stage 4, recovering Homura's true name (Honoome's help is needed)
  • The PC makes the vow "burn me" at the summit of Shonetsu's volcano
  • Accepting Ending C

Upon union:

  • PC Stage 3 Transformation: A flame seed is generated inside the body. Body temperature permanently high. Weakness to water.
  • Homura and the PC can unite as a single being (shared consciousness).
  • Ending C confirmed.

#Homura Unique Ending — "Two Flames"

When Affinity 10 is reached:

  • The PC and Homura appear as co-administrators of Scorching Heat Hell.
  • Honoome's successor role — a blessing inherited in Yukichi's work.
  • Intermittent "flame visitations" to the domain — becoming a presence that bestows blessings on residents' hearths in winter.

#Tragedy Branch — "Boiled Away"

  • If Stage 4 "Flame Oath" failures accumulate: PC Burn accumulates → medical limits → threat of death.
  • If Homura extinguishes their own flame to save the PC: Homura's existence is destroyed. The PC survives but Three Ways and Six Hearts 虛 +5.
  • If the PC attempts to "extinguish" Homura: Homura's rage, combat + permanent enemy.

#Safety Guidelines

  • Homura's flame is a physical danger. It is handled via checks, but if a player does not want it, negotiate to reduce the intensity.
  • Romance with a being of indeterminate gender respects the PC's character orientation. Conversely, Homura does not adjust to the PC's gender either — he/she as-is.
  • Transformation involves changes to physicality and sensation. Consent is mandatory.

#GM Tips

  • Sensory description: Homura's scenes should overflow with temperature, light, and sound. The sensation of the PC being "breathless."
  • The appeal of directness: Homura does not hide emotions. This contrast is the exact opposite of Komachi and Akihisa. The reason players "want" Homura is this directness.
  • Heat-resistance spell management: Ryozan and Myoen's help is regularly needed — manage relationships with them as well.

#Relationships Between Yoma Partners

PairingRelationship
Kagura × RyukageScholarly curiosity (Ryukage wants to study Kagura's repetition)
Kagura × NamibeGenerational bond (both have the "memory" problem)
Kagura × HomuraContrast (stillness vs. passion). Hard for them to understand each other
Ryukage × NamibeMutual respect (similarity between truth and regret)
Ryukage × HomuraClash (logic vs. emotion). Hard to be together
Namibe × HomuraNo exchange (the distance between Screaming Hell and Shonetsu)

#Cross-Jealousy With Human Partners

When simultaneously pursuing both a yoma partner and a human partner:

  • If discovered in the domain: Human partner Affinity -3 (sense of betrayal)
  • When Transformation accelerates: Human partner points out "you are changing" — Affinity -2, demands reconsideration of the relationship
  • Yoma partner jealousy: Yoma partners view human partners as "the weak." Tendency toward contempt rather than jealousy.
