#§ Usage

#When to Use

  • Before the session (5 min): Review last week's Barrier HP and events. Predict this week's base decrease.
  • During the session (as needed): Barrier HP decreases on expedition entry and return. Record Barrier check results. Record increases on infusion.
  • After the session (3 min): Enter this week's final Barrier HP. Note next week's prediction.

#How to Use

  1. Choose the 20-week campaign or 50-week campaign version and print or copy.
  2. Enter the end-of-session final value in the per-week Barrier HP box.
  3. Record decisive changes (cracks, over-summoning, mass prayer) in the event log.
  4. Record check results in the Barrier check record.
  5. Track onmyoji Gensho's condition alongside (linked to Barrier HP).

#Who Uses It

  • GM only. Not shown to players.
  • However, a rough Barrier HP value may be disclosed to players through the onmyoji NPC. Only the GM knows the exact number; only qualitative information at the level of "the Barrier is in danger" is shared.

#§ Weekly Update Procedure

#Before the Session (5 min) — GM Prep

1. Check last week's Barrier HP end value
2. Apply this week's natural decrease -3 (calculate in advance)
3. Check whether an expedition is expected (projected decrease -2)
4. Project the weekly check (success: +3, failure: 0, critical failure: -5)
5. Check core infusion plans (confirm warehouse inventory)
6. Note the projected Barrier HP range ("this week's end: 50~60 projected")

#During the Session (real time) — GM Entry

 - expedition return: Barrier HP -2 (conditional -1 or -3)

#§ Usage Tips

#Tip 1 — Calibrating Barrier HP Disclosure

Qualitative disclosure (OK for players):
 Stable: "The Barrier is solid."
 Caution: "Small cracks are visible in the Barrier."
 Alert:  "The Barrier has visibly thinned."
 Crisis: "The Barrier is losing its light."

Quantitative disclosure (withheld as a rule):
 Avoid scenes where the onmyoji says "Today the Barrier HP is about 45."
 Exception: quantitative disclosure is allowed in the final-battle portion of a late session.

#Tip 2 — Real-Time Sharing Tools

Digital table (online sessions):
 - Shared spreadsheet: separate only the Barrier HP column into a public tab
 - Notion link: share the Barrier HP public block with players

Physical table (offline sessions):
 - Barrier HP counter (see 80-07): tear-off dial, for player-facing display
 - Event log: GM notebook only

#Tip 3 — Staging a Critical Failure

On critical failure (2d10+modifier ≤ target - 5):
 - Enter Barrier HP -5 additional decrease immediately
 - Enter Gensho health -1 immediately
 - Narrate: "Gensho coughs up blood. Black blood flows from his mouth."
 - Build player tension: "If he doesn't recover by next week…"

#Tip 4 — Creating Recovery Opportunities

When Barrier HP drops to 20 or lower, offer a recovery opportunity:
 - mass prayer event: +5 (domain morale -1 required)
 - high-purity core infusion: +60 (high-purity core consumed)
 - spiritual contact event: +10 (apprentice onmyoji can be unlocked)
 - lord's sacrifice (near Ending): +20 (lord health -3)

"Full recovery" is impossible. Max Barrier HP is always 100; the recovery ceiling is Barrier HP 80 (structural damage).

#Tone Guide

  • Numbers are tension. Barrier HP 75 carries little tension; Barrier HP 20 carries a great deal. The GM must load the numbers with feeling for the players to feel it.
  • Change is event. -3 stacking 5 times is -15. At that moment a player says, "Oh, it's dropped a lot." That moment is the session's rhythm.
  • The record is narrative. 20 weeks later, looking back, this sheet is the domain's chronicle. Do not discard it.
