The core Barrier skill has no schools. This expansion newly establishes 4. The core Licensed sealing Barrier / secret art guardian role is replaced by newly established maneuvers. Applies the Barrier Wounds unit of this §11. Only the 9-dan permanent Barrier is directly compatible with the 1st-expansion Domain Barrier HP 100.

#19-04-01. Japanese-Style Barrier (日本式結界) — Renowned House · Japan

The orthodox Barrier of onmyoji and shrine priests. Uses talismans, shimenawa rope, stone steles, and the like. Protects the precincts of shrines and temples. Directly linked with the core onmyoji class.

  • Bonus: Japanese Barrier — Barrier +3 in the precincts of Japanese shrines/temples.
  • Restriction: outside precincts -1.
  • Licensed: [Kata] Shrine Barrier: Energy 3. Form a Barrier in 1 zone (1 session, yoma -2, Wounds 2).
  • Secret art: [Kata] Temple Barrier: Energy 5. 1 session. A 5-zone Barrier (1 week, yoma -3, Wounds 4).
  • Approach: onmyoji class, shrine priest, or orthodox Barrier mentorship. Japan only.
  • Play type: Japanese Barrier, shrine protection.

#19-04-02. Daoist Five-Phase Barrier (道教五行結界) — Foreign Style · China

Cultural origin: the Daoist Five-Phase (wood, fire, earth, metal, water) thought. A Barrier of 5 directions, 5 colors, 5 talismans. Mentorship under Wudang Mountain priests/feng shui masters.

  • Bonus: Five-Phase Barrier — when the 5 directions are accurately placed, Barrier +3, Wounds +1.
  • Restriction: placing the 5 directions requires 1 session. No bonus when time is short.
  • Licensed: [Kata] Five-Phase Barrier: Energy 4. A 1-zone Barrier (1 session, yoma -2, Wounds 3).
  • Secret art: [Kata] Five-Phase Empowered Barrier: Energy 5. 1 session. Accurately place the 5 directions. A 5-zone Barrier (1 week, yoma -3, Wounds 6).

#19-04-03. Korean Feng Shui Barrier (韓國風水結界) — Foreign Style · Joseon

Cultural origin: a fusion of Joseon feng shui thought + shamanism. Uses steles, stone pagodas, and village guardian trees. Protects villages and gravesites. Commoner-friendly.

  • Bonus: feng shui Barrier — Barrier +3 in the precincts of villages, gravesites, and mountains.
  • Restriction: city/palace -1.
  • Licensed: [Kata] Village Barrier: Energy 3. A 1-village Barrier (1 session, yoma -2, Wounds 2).
  • Secret art: [Kata] Feng Shui Empowerment: Energy 5. 1 session. A Barrier over a village + the surrounding mountains (1 week, yoma -3, Wounds 4).
  • Approach: Joseon origin, foreign Adaptation (Joseon), or mentorship under a feng shui master.

Cultural origin: the Kabbalah of Jewish mysticism. Uses Hebrew letters, the Sefirot, and the name of God. Rabbi (rabbi) secret transmission. Very deep learning + a strong Barrier.

  • Bonus: Kabbalah — when studying Kabbalah learning, Barrier +3, Wounds +2.
  • Restriction: Jewish Faith + 5 or more sessions of Kabbalah learning required.
  • Licensed: [Kata] Sefirot Barrier: Energy 4. A 1-zone Barrier (1 session, yoma -3, Wounds 3).
  • Secret art: [Kata] Name-of-God Barrier: Energy 5. 1 session. A 5-zone Barrier (1 week, yoma -4, Wounds 7).
  • Approach: Jewish origin, foreign Adaptation (Jewish/Arab), or mentorship under a rabbi.
  • Play type: Kabbalah Barrier, Jewish mysticism.

  • Opposition with the 17-05 Disable schools: this section is the placer. Can oppose Disablers in a campaign.
  • 35-spell-system linkage: holding a Barrier school grants access to Barrier spells (35-15).
