The core Poisoncraft skill has no schools. This expansion newly establishes 4. The core Licensed poison coating / secret art residual-poison circulation is replaced by newly established maneuvers.

Opposition with 17-06 Herbalism: 17-06-04 poison-plant discrimination is the antidoter. This section 19-06 is the poisoner. 1 PC cannot hold both schools at once.

#19-06-01. Iga Poisoncraft (伊賀毒術) — Renowned School · Japan

The secret-transmission poisoncraft of the Iga-ryu ninjutsu practitioners. Only a holder of the core Iga-ryu school can learn it orthodoxly. Uses the poison plants and venomous snakes of Japan's mountains.

  • Bonus: Iga poisoncraft — poison check +3 when using Japanese poison plants.
  • Restriction: the core Iga-ryu Licensed slot recommended — half effect if not held.
  • Licensed: [Kata] Poison Coating: Energy 2. Coat the weapon with poison. When the next attack hits, enemy Energy -2 (3 rounds).
  • Secret art: [Kata] Residual-Poison Circulation (Empowered): Energy 4. 1 combat. Extend the poison-coating effect to 5 rounds. Each round, Energy -2.
  • Approach: the core Iga-ryu school + Poisoncraft Licensed slot recommended.

#19-06-02. Persian Poison (Persian Poison) — Foreign Style · Persia·Arab

  • Source: the Nizari Ismaili sect (the order of Hassan-i Sabbah) — a branch of the 14-05 Hashashin learning
  • Era: 11th~13th century (1090 founding of Alamut, 1256 fall of Alamut)
  • Cultural sphere: Persia/Syria

Cultural origin: the poison learning of the Persian Alamut mountain fortress (the Hashashin). Arabian plants + mineral poisons. Specialty in political assassination.

  • Bonus: Persian poisoncraft — poison check +3 in political assassination, holds the antidote directly.
  • Restriction: immune to the poisons one has used oneself (foreign Adaptation enhancement).
  • Licensed: [Kata] Precision Poison: Energy 2. Make 1 single-use poison. When added to a drink or food, target Energy -5 (1 session).
  • Secret art: [Kata] Political Poisoning: Energy 5. 1 session. Political poisoning on 1 target (manifests 1 week later, disguised as a natural death).
  • Approach: Arab/Persian origin, foreign Adaptation, or mentorship under the Hashashin (14-05).
  • Play type: political poisoning, assassination.

#19-06-03. Amazon Toxicology (Amazon Toxicology) — Foreign Style · New World

Cultural origin: the arrow poison and dart poison of South American Amazon tribes. Curare, dart-frog poison, and the like. Both hunting and warfare.

  • Bonus: arrow/dart poison — attack +3 and an instant-death check when coating an arrow/dart with poison.
  • Restriction: holding Amazon poison plants is essential (obtainable only from Nanban traders, near non-sale).
  • Licensed: [Kata] Curare Arrow: Energy 3. Coat the arrow with poison. On hit, enemy Energy -3, paralysis for 1 round.
  • Secret art: [Kata] Dart-Frog Poison: Energy 5. 1 session 1 time. Fire 1 dart. On hit, an instant-death check on a Critical Hit (2d10 + Physique + Fate >= 13, instant death on failure). Precision poison + on Critical Hit + 1 session 1 time = 3 limiting conditions. Complies with 00-05 §10 attack-bonus limitation.
  • Approach: New World origin, foreign Adaptation (free), or mentorship under an Amazon tribe. Nearly a fictional medium.
  • Play type: New World hunting, instant-death arrow.

#19-06-04. Arab Poison Smoke (Arabic Poison Smoke) — Foreign Style · Arab

Cultural origin: Arab incense/smoke (香煙) poison. Poison powder in a censer + smoke to paralyze the target. Used in political assassination and by scouts.

  • Bonus: smoke poison — a 1-zone poison effect when using a censer.
  • Restriction: a censer and incense required (40-01-10 variant). Limited to the environment (indoors, no wind).
  • Licensed: [Kata] Smoke Paralysis: Energy 3. Paralyze all enemies in 1 zone for 1 round (outdoors -1).
  • Secret art: [Kata] Empowered Smoke: Energy 5. 1 session. A 1-session poison effect on everything in a 1-room environment (Energy -1/round).
  • Approach: Arab origin, foreign Adaptation (Arab), or mentorship under an incense merchant.
  • Play type: political smoke poison, indoor assassination.
