#Scent — Disciple of the Wind
One who passed Sojobo's trial. A human who received a tengu fan and learned the law of ruling the wind. The only "human" acknowledged by the Muhyeon Band.
A Tengushi trained on Mount Kurama moves like a tengu while still human. They fly through the sky, scatter arrows with wind, and read the earth's spirit veins through the wind. The Wildlander's bestial movement joins the Feng Shui Master's terrain manipulation, producing a being who changes the battlefield itself.
But the teaching of the tengu carries pride. The tengu view that "humans are weak" infects the Tengushi as well. If they fail Sojobo's Judgment, the tengu personally delivers punishment.
- Recommended Weapons: tengu fan (hauchiwa, staff-style variant), rokushakubo
- Recommended Schools: none (the tengu teaching itself transcends schools)
- Recommended Faction Traits: Muhyeon Band (wind's protection), mandatory membership.

- Ranged nullification: Wind Wall blocks bows/guns. A natural enemy of ranged builds.
- Zone control: forced movement + zone transformation controls the battlefield.
- High survivability: 50% ranged evasion + flight-based melee evasion.
#Extreme Weaknesses
- Pride Infection: Negotiation -2. Relationships with companions worsen.
- Muhyeon Band mission obligation: cannot refuse Sojobo's orders.
- Failed judgment = punishment: GM activates it on pride actions. Wounds -3 + flight stops for 1 round.
- Weak on the ground: no bonuses when flight is sealed off (indoors/underground).
#Typical Breath Pattern (5th Dan, tengu fan)
Count 12 — First breath (dive from a high place):
Flight movement(1) + Gale Strike(3) = 4. Remaining 12→8.
→ range 2 zones, 2 Wounds + force everyone in the zone to move. Enemy formation collapses.
Count 8 — Second breath (melee engagement):
Whirlwind Kick(2) + reserve: Wind Fan Defense(1) = 3. Remaining 8→5.
→ enemy 1 Wound + forced movement. Counterattack ready.
Count 5 — Third breath (disengage):
Flight movement(1) + declare Wind Wall stance(2) = 3. Remaining 5→2.
→ leave to a high place/Outside Zone + ranged denial. Store 2 Energy.
#Zone Bonuses
| Zone | Bonus |
|---|---|
| Front Zone | Push breakthrough users back with Whirlwind Kick |
| Core Zone | Free flight entry |
| Outside Zone | Home ground. Flight+ranged evasion |
| High Place | Attack +2 extra |
#Three Ways and Six Hearts Conflict
The Tengushi's central drama is the tug of war between pride and humanity.
- "Am I human, or tengu?" The farther they look down from the sky, the smaller humans appear. A companion's mistake becomes intolerable, and a villager's weakness begins to feel contemptible. This is tengu pride.
- Pride Infection: They catch themselves saying to companions, "You cannot even do that much?" When pride actions accumulate, Sojobo delivers judgment. Judgment is not mercy: it is a lash.
- Relationship with Sojobo: teacher and judge. "If you forget that you are human, I will take you back." Recognition from Sojobo makes the Tengushi stronger, but also brings them closer to being a tengu. Recognition and corruption point in the same direction.
- The Muhyeon Band's gaze: the Tengushi is the only human acknowledged by the Muhyeon Band. Yet the other tengu of the Muhyeon Band are watching to see "when that human will fall."
- Final conflict: the 9th-dan choice: Sky Ruler (completion as a tengu, permanent severance from human society) vs Sojobo's License (remaining human while keeping tengu power, and removing the Pride penalty). The former is the extreme of Hegemony; the latter, the extreme of Truth.
"Wind blows from high places. But when you look down from a high place, everything looks small."
