#5 Drifted Outsiders — Strangers Trapped in the Domain
Contents
At the moment of the drift, they were merely passing through this land. Now they are neither residents of the domain nor retainers, but outsiders. Each person's culture, knowledge, and past becomes an unexpected resource and variable for the domain.

[New Rule] Outsider Adaptation
Outsiders begin outside the domain's integrated order. Track their degree of integration with adaptation (0~10). 0 = complete outsider, 10 = retainer status. Adaptation rises and falls through events, and special rights and obligations appear at specific values. It does not decrease except through death or exile.

#When to Check Adaptation
At the end of an arc, total each outsider's conduct → update adaptation. PC influence matters heavily.
#1. Padre Lorenzo — Portuguese Jesuit Priest
#Scent — Lorenzo as a Person
#Appearance
Fifty-two. Extremely tall by Japanese standards (estimated 180cm). Thin. His skin is pale, but his cheeks carry a reddish color. His hair is brown mixed with silver-gray. His beard is trimmed short — an unusual shape, unlike Japanese beards. Blue eyes — the reason residents were startled at first.
His clothing is a black Jesuit priest's cassock. A knotted cord at his waist, a cross at his neck — worn openly. He wears it in public despite the Christian prohibition edicts. He always has a rosary in hand.
He limps slightly on one leg — an injury from escaping persecution in Nagasaki.
#Speech
Polite Japanese. His grammar is perfect, but the intonation has a foreign ring. Latin and Portuguese words often mix in. In conversation, words such as "Deus (God)" and "misericórdia (mercy)" slip out.
He uses honorific speech with everyone. He calls himself "this oji" — a self-reference chosen as a mark of humility.
#Symbolic Items
- Heavy cross: Large, made of silver. His father's keepsake. He has been in Japan for 18 years.
- Latin Bible: Leather cover. Japanese notes in the margins. Inherited from Minako's mother.
- Rosary of 108 beads: Made by him after the number of beads in Eastern prayer beads.
- Small wooden box: Holds a handful of Portuguese soil. He asks, "When I die, bury me with this soil."
#Past
Born in Lisbon, Portugal. Joined the Jesuit Order in his 20-something years, came to Japan as a missionary in his 30-something years. While active in Nagasaki, he escaped when the prohibition intensified. While fleeing north, he lost his way near Kagamiyama Domain → happened to be staying there just before the drift.
He knew Minako's mother. They worked together in Nagasaki 18 years ago. After Minako's mother died, he lost track of her daughter — and was shaken when they met again in this domain.
#Law and Skills
Lorenzo (noncombat NPC — unarmed gaijin scholar type)
Courage +0 / Finesse +1 / Physique +0 / Wisdom +3 / Presence +1 / Fate -1 (total +4. Wisdom has reached the +3 attribute cap)

Energy 11 (10 + Finesse 1)
Wounds 3 (3 + Physique 0)
Defense 10 (armed — priest's robes)
Three Ways and Six Hearts: 慈 (Public Way — Japanese rendering of Christian love)
Noncombat NPC Standard: A core noncombat NPC has 0~1 trait. They cannot have Licensed or Master skills (1st-dan noncombat characters have no Master slots). If they enter combat, their own breaths can only be used for fleeing or healing support.
Traits (1, noncombat allowed limit):
- Outsider Affinity [aptitude] — core Gaijin 1st-dan automatic (borrowing basis: set as a Gaijin class background). Automatically appraises foreign sacred objects. Automatically begins Nanban Learning.
Skills (1st-dan 9 points = class 5 + background 2 + free 2. Noncombat NPC: no Licensed or Master skills): Stratagem Trained (2 points, theological logic and tactical interpretation), Negotiation Trained (2 points), Medicine Novice (1 point, Western style), Perception Novice (1 point), Sorcery Novice (1 point, comparative study of Dantean Hell), Prophecy Novice (1 point, free — comparing eschatology and Hell), Hardiness Novice (1 point, free — faith that endured persecution)
Livelihood (New #11):
- Livelihood:Language (Master Artisan, +3) — fluent in 4 languages: Portuguese, Latin, Spanish, and Japanese. The domain's only Nanban-language speaker.
- Livelihood:Nanban Theology (Artisan, +2) — formal Jesuit education. Bible, patristics, Dantean infernology.
- Livelihood:Nanban Medicines (Skilled, +1) — basics of Western herbs, salves, and bloodletting.
Special Narrative Authority (non-rule, GM discretion): Christian knowledge — can compare the 5 hell chapters with Dantean Hell. Provides theoretical advice during Spirit Realm exploration (narrative support, not a check).
#Sample Lines
Normal:
"Young Lord Akihisa. I would be grateful if you would speak to this oji. To the master of this land. To this stranger... ah, it is the grace of Deus."
When asked about hell:
"Hell, yes. Your five hells and our seven-layered hell are different, but there are overlaps. The hell of fire is the same. The hell of ice is... the deepest place for us. You do not have it. Curioso (interesting)."
Reunion with Minako:
(holding his breath) "...You are... Lady Minako? Ah, ah, are you truly Minako's daughter?"
(kneeling) "...The Lord has granted this oji such grace. Your mother was... my friend."
#Relationships and Hooks
- Akihisa: Approaches the lord courteously. The lord is cautious because of the Christian prohibition edicts, but makes use of Lorenzo's learning.
- Gensho: Scholarly respect. They share metaphors from their own religions. An unexpected friend.
- Minako: Shock of reunion. Minako rejects him at first, then gradually accepts him. A sharer of Christian identity.
- Residents: At first they fear him. They are wary of Lorenzo's public cross. Through care for the sick and education for children, they gradually accept him.
- Hook 1 — Christian Prohibition Conflict: Heisaku, Kyube, and others object to Lorenzo's open faith. PC mediation is needed.
- Hook 2 — Latin Bible: A theoretical text useful for Spirit Realm exploration. When combined with Minako's books, it becomes a comparative map of hells.
- Hook 3 — Support for Minako: In Minako's romance route, Lorenzo acts as an indirect adviser.
- Hook 4 — Possibility of Martyrdom: In the worst case, Lorenzo may choose martyrdom to protect residents. The extreme of Heart 慈.
#2. Peddler Tobe — Traveling Merchant
#Scent — Tobe as a Person
#Appearance
Thirty-eight. Medium height. Thin, but with legs that are used to walking. His face is dark from the sun. No beard. His eyes are narrow and clever-looking. Always a quick gaze — gathering information from his surroundings.
His clothes are shabby peddler's clothes — old but sturdy dark-blue kimono. A long cord at his waist, a large bundle on his back. He carries several spare pairs of straw sandals. His legs are his product.
#Speech
Fast and fluent. Mixed with an Edo accent. He uses polite speech well for business — but his inner mind is practical. Formal with samurai, easygoing with farmers.
#Symbolic Items
- Huge bundle: Contains sundries, news, and letters. News is merchandise.
- Palm-sized contact notebook: Records names and contact networks from across Japan. This is Tobe's asset.
- Several pairs of straw sandals: A peddler's necessity.
- Nameless dagger: For self-defense. Almost never used.
#Past
Born in Edo. From age 20, he traveled the provinces as a peddler. He has visited many villages in the core world. Kagamiyama Domain had an annual trading relationship with him — at the time of the drift, he was visiting for the spring trade.
The only window into core-world information. But because of the drift, he is no longer connected to the core world — Tobe's asset is temporarily frozen.
#Law and Skills
Tobe (1st-dan, merchant)
Courage +0 / Finesse +1 / Physique +1 / Wisdom +1 / Presence +1 / Fate -1 (total +3 = core 1st-dan standard)
Energy 11 (10 + Finesse 1)
Wounds 4 (3 + Physique 1)
Defense 12 (light armor)
Three Ways and Six Hearts: 覇 (profit, information)
Traits (3 = 1st-dan automatic + background 1 + general 1):
- Calculator [aptitude] — core Merchant 1st-dan automatic. Buying and selling checks +2
- Pack Runner [background, aptitude] — peddler background. Overload resistance +2 when moving
- Swift [general, aptitude] — Energy +1
Skills (1st-dan 9 points = class 5 + background 2 + free 2. At 1st dan up to 1 Licensed is allowed; none taken here. Master is possible from 2nd dan): Negotiation Trained (2 points), Geography Trained (2 points, core world), Bribery Novice (1 point), Perception Novice (1 point, background — eyes for gathering information), Scouting Novice (1 point, background — conditions across the provinces), Footwork Novice (1 point, free — his legs are his stock-in-trade), Deceit Novice (1 point, free — a salesman's glibness) Livelihood (New #11): Livelihood:Commerce (Skilled, +1) — a lifetime as a peddler. Livelihood:Clerical Work (Skilled, +1, ledgers and name notebook)
Special Authority: At campaign start, Tobe possesses "recent core-world information" up to just before the drift. For information checks, on topics related to the core world only, the GM may reveal information without a roll. This is not a skill grade but a narrative privilege, and the freshness of the information declines over time (-1 relevance each arc).
#Sample Lines
Normal:
"Ah, my good lord, you've come to Tobe. What do you need? Goods? News? Or stories about people? Ah, inside this domain there is no fresh news, so nothing has a price. That is the problem, ha ha."
When a PC asks about a core-world person:
"Ah, that person? I've seen them once. At such-and-such post in Echigo. 3 years ago. They should be alive, probably. Probably. But the information I can give you now is 3 months old. It is dated from when I came to this domain."
To the lord:
"My lord, I have been unable to leave this domain for six months. Every one of my business partners must think me dead. If I can return... I want to return as the domain's benefactor. A benefactor's bundle cannot be empty, ha ha."
#Relationships and Hooks
- Akihisa: His relationship with the lord is that of a "continuing guest." The lord is wary of Tobe's salesmanship, but needs core-world information.
- Kyube: Fellow merchant, but a competitor. Kyube sees Tobe as the only outside merchant threat inside the domain.
- Godai: Fellow merchant. Their product lines differ (Tobe has sundries, Godai has weapons). A close colleague.
- Hook 1 — Attempt to Restore the Contact Network: Tobe tries to contact the core world with the PCs. Delivering a letter through Spirit Realm merchants — a dangerous attempt.
- Hook 2 — Core-World Information Trade: PCs obtain names, houses, and event information about the core world from Tobe. A way to raise adaptation.
- Hook 3 — The Wanderer Settles: Tobe wrestles with the decision to settle after a long drift. Event when adaptation reaches 7+.
#3. Pilgrim Myoen — Koyasan Ascetic
#Scent — Myoen as a Person
#Appearance
Forty-four. Medium height, with a body hardened by ascetic training. Shaved head — same as Ryozan. A few lines of wrinkles on his face, deep eyes. No beard. Skin is sun-browned copper.
His clothing is white pilgrim dress — byakue (白衣). A six-ring staff at his waist (same type as Ryozan's). A large horagai (法螺) over his shoulder — a conch trumpet. Straw sandals on his feet, gaiters on his legs.
#Speech
Slow and calm. Similar to Ryozan, but a little clearer. He uses Buddhist terms often, but does not explain them in a difficult way. His polite speech is precise with everyone.
#Symbolic Items
- Horagai: Symbol of a Koyasan ascetic. When blown, it makes a long low sound — calms yoma in the Spirit Realm.
- Six-ring staff: Same lineage as Ryozan's.
- Old pilgrimage diary: Records 15 years of sacred-site pilgrimage. Maps and prayers are mixed together.
- A piece of his mother's ashes: Sealed in a small pouch. He was on his way to place them at Koyasan — interrupted by the drift.
#Past
Born in Yamato. His family was a mid-ranking warrior house. After his mother died in his 20-something years, he took religious resolve and left home. Entered Koyasan, trained for 15 years. Now, during a pilgrimage to sacred sites across the land, he drifted while passing through Kagamiyama Domain.
#Law and Skills
Myoen (2nd-dan, Shugenja)
Courage +0 / Finesse +1 / Physique +1 / Wisdom +2 / Presence +0 / Fate +0 (total +4 = core 2nd-dan standard)
Energy 11 (10 + Finesse 1)
Wounds 4 (3 + Physique 1)
Defense 10 (byakue — core unarmed)
Three Ways and Six Hearts: 眞 (truth)
Traits (3 = 1st-dan automatic + background 1 + general 1. No even-dan trait):
- Vow of Fudo Myoo [aptitude] — core Shugenja 1st-dan automatic
- Pilgrim's Footsteps [background, aptitude] — pilgrim background. Journey checks and Geography +2
- Horagai Blowing [general, aptitude, special to this supplement] — yoma calming checks +1
Skills (1st-dan 9 points[class 5+background 2+free 2] + 2nd-dan growth +2 points = 11 points. At 2nd dan up to 2 Licensed-or-higher are allowed; none taken here): Exorcism Trained (2 points), Geography Trained (2 points, sacred sites), Prophecy Trained (2 points, Buddhist scriptures), Hardiness Novice (1 point, austerity training), Survival Novice (1 point, fifteen years of pilgrimage), Perception Novice (1 point, spiritual presences), Negotiation Novice (1 point, mediating to calm yokai), Medicine Novice (1 point, tending the sick)
#Sample Lines
Normal:
"This pilgrim Myoen happened to halt his steps in this domain... yet this too is the Buddha's guidance. If one of my hands is needed, I will offer it."
Before Spirit Realm exploration:
"I shall bring the horagai. Many yoma withdraw before its sound. But the resonance shakes the soul. If you remain beside me, you too may be shaken, so I tell you in advance."
When meeting Ryozan:
(bowing his head) "I am not enough to call you teacher, but you are my senior. This meeting is karmic fortune (果報)."
#Relationships and Hooks
- Akihisa: Formal honorifics. The lord respects the depth of Myoen's practice.
- Gensho: Mutual respect. Scholarly and spiritual conversation.
- Ryozan: A teacher-student-like relationship. Ryozan is older, but Myoen is more doctrinal. They learn from one another.
- Sayo: Subtle. Myoen respects Sayo's folk sorcery but remains wary.
- Hook 1 — Return to Koyasan: The dream of enshrining his mother's ashes. If the drift is not resolved, it remains forever on hold. Possible spiritual climax in Chapter 5.
- Hook 2 — Three-Person Barrier Assistance: When Gensho, Ryozan, and Myoen maintain the barrier together, weakening increase is eased. A long-term asset.
- Hook 3 — Horagai Secret: A secret rite of the horagai that Myoen hides — can completely annihilate a specific spirit. The cost is permanent loss of the horagai.
#4. Arms Merchant Godai — Teppo and Gunpowder Sales Agent
#Scent — Godai as a Person
#Appearance
Forty-five. Medium height, sturdy build. Burn scar on his right wrist — an old teppo accident. His face is darkened by sunlight and gunpowder smoke. He trims his beard like a goatee. His eyes are sharp — an air more like a warrior than a merchant.
His clothes are a dark-brown kimono — somewhat formal, but not flashy. A wakizashi at his waist (for self-defense), a large bundle on his back. Inside the bundle are 3 teppo (disassembled) and powder canisters.
#Speech
Fast and sharp. He uses salesmanship, but not excessive politeness. Practical. His politeness adjusts by counterpart — formal with the lord, casual with commoners.
#Symbolic Items
- 3 teppo (stored disassembled): Latest products from Sakai. A major change for domain weapons.
- 2 powder canisters: About 50 shots' worth. Rare resource.
- Manufacturing schematic: Teppo structural drawing. If shown to Yukichi, it can revolutionize the forge.
- Seal of the Sakai merchant guild: Proof of identity.
#Past
Born in Sakai, Osaka. The center of teppo trade. From his 20-something years, he traveled the country selling teppo. 15 years of experience. While traveling north to deliver goods to the Uesugi house, he drifted in Kagamiyama Domain.
Godai is a merchant, but has some shooting training — for teppo demonstrations. No real combat experience.
#Law and Skills
Godai (1st-dan, Gaijin — teppo technician)
Courage +0 / Finesse +1 / Physique +0 / Wisdom +2 / Presence +1 / Fate -1 (total +3 = core 1st-dan standard)
Energy 11 (10 + Finesse 1)
Wounds 3 (3 + Physique 0)
Defense 12 (light armor)
Three Ways and Six Hearts: 覇 (profit)
Traits (3 = 1st-dan automatic + background 1 + general 1):
- Foreign Gunpowder [aptitude] — core Gaijin 1st-dan automatic. Teppo
[Pierce all], fixed target 11 - Gunsmith's Touch [background, aptitude] — technician background. Teppo maintenance and repair checks +2
- Calculator [general, aptitude] — buying and selling checks +2 (borrowed Merchant 1st-dan trait — general trait slot)
Skills (1st-dan 9 points = class 5 + background 2 + free 2. At 1st dan up to 1 Licensed is allowed; none taken here. Master is possible from 2nd dan): Archery Trained (2 points, including teppo), Geography Novice (1 point), Negotiation Novice (1 point), Perception Novice (1 point), Disable Novice (1 point, background — disassembling and maintaining teppo), Bribery Novice (1 point, background — a merchant's bargaining), Scouting Novice (1 point, free — reading the situation), Deceit Novice (1 point, free — concealing his true identity) Livelihood (New #11): Livelihood:Gunsmithing (Artisan, +2) — Portuguese-derived teppo making and maintenance. The domain's only one. Livelihood:Commerce (Skilled, +1)
Note: Teppo cannot fire continuously (reload takes 2 intervals). If gunpowder runs out, they cannot be used.
#Sample Lines
Normal:
"My lord, if what Godai has is needed by you, then let us trade. But it is not free. That is the merchant's law. Just as my lord has the warrior's law."
When meeting Yukichi:
(spreading out a schematic) "Master smith, look here. The inside of this teppo barrel makes this scraping sound. Could your hands reproduce it? Without going all the way to Sakai, I mean."
When supporting combat:
(loading the teppo) "Wait a little. Two breaths will do. One shot — if it misses, there is no next shot until that target escapes. Point to the target carefully."
#Relationships and Hooks
- Akihisa: The lord understands the value of teppo. But he is wary of Godai's commercial nature.
- Yukichi: Opportunity for technical exchange. If Yukichi learns the schematic, the domain can make its own teppo (long-term project).
- Toma: Conservative reaction to new-generation weapons. "A sword is the soul; this gunpowder-smelling thing has no soul," he says.
- Kagemitsu: Curiosity. The progressiveness of a young samurai.
- Tobe: Fellow merchant. Relatively close.
- Hook 1 — Teppo Transfer Negotiation: Godai negotiates the conditions for transferring 3 teppo to the domain. The price is high.
- Hook 2 — Domain Teppo Production: Work with Yukichi to produce the domain's own teppo. Long-term project, requires concentrated resources.
- Hook 3 — Gunpowder Replenishment: Obtain gunpowder material (saltpeter) in the Spirit Realm. Side quest.
- Hook 4 — Suspicious Identity: Godai may be not merely a merchant, but a spy of the Uesugi house. Komachi can sniff it out. Revealed depending on Affinity.
#5. Exiled Samurai Kuroda Heizo — Ronin
#Scent — Heizo as a Person
#Appearance
Thirty-nine. Tall, with a sturdy build. A large sword scar across his face — from left cheek to jaw. Beard grown long. Hair left loose — not a samurai's clean topknot. His eyes are dark — the eyes of someone who has given something up.
His clothing is old samurai dress. No official family crest (removed). A single katana at his waist — a famed sword. No wakizashi (sold).
Burn scar on his right arm. Trace of the past.
#Speech
Low and slow. Heavy. His honorific speech is precise, but there is distance. No emotional expression. He speaks of himself to no one.
#Symbolic Items
- Katana "Dark Moon (闇月)": Family sword. Famous long blade. His livelihood rests on this one blade.
- Torn retainer oath: Kept at his chest. The crest of the house he once served is torn.
- Old sake bottle: Drinks often. Does not become drunk, but cannot quit.
- Mother's ring: Worn as a necklace, not on a finger. His only emotionally warm keepsake.
#Past — Officially Revealed Part
From a mid-ranking house in Kaga Province. Became a retainer in his 20-something years. In his 30-something years, his lord was assassinated. Heizo was on the scene at the time. Wanted on suspicion of assassination → left the house and became ronin. 3 years wandering.
#Past — Hidden Truth (GM Information)
Heizo is innocent. The real assassin was Heizo's colleague, who framed Heizo. Heizo knows the truth, but has no proof to establish it. Rather than proving his innocence, he chose seclusion. Heart 魔 (transformation) tendency — the path of one who has abandoned his own dignity.
#Law and Skills
Kuroda Heizo (4th-dan, Samurai — ronin)
Courage +2 / Finesse +2 / Physique +1 / Wisdom +0 / Presence +0 / Fate +0 (total +5 = core 4th-dan standard)
Energy 12 (10 + Finesse 2)
Wounds 5 (3 + Physique 1 + Tough 1)
Defense 12 (light armor)
Three Ways and Six Hearts: 魔 (transformation — self-destructive)
Traits (5 = 1st-dan automatic 3 + 3rd-dan class 1 + 3rd-dan general 1. No even-dan 4th-dan trait):
- Immovable Formation [stance, 2 Energy] — core Samurai 1st-dan automatic
- Nameless House [background, aptitude] — ronin background (originally warrior background, fallen after excommunication). Attack +1 when acting alone
- Tough [general, aptitude] — Wounds +1
- Resolve of Junshi [aptitude] — core Samurai 3rd-dan choose 1. While at Wounds 1 or less, all attacks +3
- Swordsmanship Secret [general, aptitude, borrowed Swordsmanship License] — when Swordsmanship License (3 points) is achieved, may use core uchigatana licensed techniques
Skills (1st-dan 9 points[class 5+background 2+free 2] + 2nd-dan +2 points + 4th-dan +2 points = 13 points. At 4th dan the shared Licensed-or-higher count is 3; only 1 License is taken here): Swordsmanship License (3 points), Infiltration Trained (2 points), Military Science Trained (2 points), Fighting Spirit Novice (1 point), Intimidation Novice (1 point), Survival Novice (1 point, three years of wandering), Perception Novice (1 point, wariness), Scouting Novice (1 point, a ronin's eye for the field), Hardiness Novice (1 point, endurance that even drink cannot break)
Famed Sword "Dark Moon": Masterwork sword. A unique weapon following the core Masterwork Weapons format. Blessing: critical range +1 / curse: when bleeding occurs, user also takes 1 Wound / masterwork technique: "Dark Moon Cut" (Energy 3, attack +2, additional bleeding on critical hit).
Equipment: katana "Dark Moon", light armor, sake bottle
#Sample Lines
Normal (tilting a cup of sake, low):
"...If you spoke first, I thank you. I lost the right to speak first. The fact that my lord has not driven this ronin out already makes me one who has received grace."
When a PC asks about his past:
(A pause, then) "There are those who can answer a question, and those who cannot. I can only be the latter. Your suspicion is proper. Keep it. That is the way to survive."
After combat (emotionless):
"There were five. Now four. I will have to cut three or four more. Later."
#Relationships and Hooks
- Akihisa: The lord depends on Heizo's 4th-dan swordsmanship, but cannot trust him. Temporary alliance relationship.
- Toma: Wary. Toma reads something dangerous in Heizo's eyes. He warns Akihisa, "That man harms himself. He can harm others as well."
- Kagemitsu: Fear and respect. Faced with the skill of a 4th-dan samurai, Kagemitsu keenly feels his own insufficiency.
- Komachi: Professional curiosity. Komachi is investigating Heizo's past.
- Ryozan: Rare conversation partner. Ryozan recognizes Heizo's karma (業).
- Hook 1 — Reveal the Truth: A long-term quest in which PCs prove Heizo's innocence. On success, Heart 魔 → 眞 shift, adaptation rises greatly.
- Hook 2 — Completion of Heart 魔: Conversely, if Heizo completes the self-destructive path, he becomes a hostile NPC — betrayal or assault within the domain becomes possible.
- Hook 3 — Track the Assassin: The colleague who framed Heizo may be near the Spirit Realm boundary. Chapter 4 quest.
- Hook 4 — Guardian's Sword: At the end of the campaign, Heizo serves as the lord's guardian sword (剣). Possible under Heart-shift conditions.

#Outsider Use Scenarios
#Scenario 1: Triangle of Knowledge
Lorenzo (theology) + Gensho (onmyodo) + Myoen (Buddhism) → dual and triple views of the 5 hell chapters. After Chapter 3, during Spirit Realm exploration, the three-person joint analysis solves riddles that were previously impossible to resolve.
#Scenario 2: Technological Progress
Godai (teppo schematic) + Yukichi (smithing skill) → domain teppo production. Long-term project, takes 3 months. On completion, domain defense +2, combat against great retainers possible.
#Scenario 3: Recovery of Information
Tobe (core-world contact network) + Kyube (Spirit Realm merchant will) → indirect acquisition of core-world news through the Spirit Realm. Dangerous but possible. Activates after Chapter 4.
#Scenario 4: Rebirth of the Sword
Heizo (4th-dan swordsmanship + Dark Moon) → on successful Heart shift, lord's guardian sword. Can play a decisive role at the campaign climax.
#Scenario 5: Cultural Clash
Lorenzo (Christianity) + Sayo (heterodox folk rites) + Heisaku (order) → internal domain conflict. If ignored, morale falls; if resolved, the domain matures.
#GM Operation Tips
#Outsider RP Basics
- Emphasize distinctiveness: Lorenzo's Latin, Tobe's Edo accent, Myoen's horagai, Godai's teppo sound, Heizo's silence — give each one sensory signature.
- Balance otherness: If outsiders blend into the domain too quickly, tension is lost. Let adaptation rise slowly.
- Possibility of hostility: Heizo in particular can turn enemy at any time. That threat is part of the campaign's flavor.
#Appearance Frequency
- Lorenzo: religion and scholarship sessions
- Tobe: sessions that need core-world news
- Myoen: spiritual-issue sessions
- Godai: combat and equipment sessions
- Heizo: crisis sessions (combat supporter or threat)
Each one should appear 1 time every 2~3 sessions.
#Easy Mistakes
- Using outsiders as one-off problem solvers: They are people too. Do not forget their desires and fears.
- Making Lorenzo an all-purpose doctor: He is a missionary, not a scholar. He has limits.
- Saving Heizo too quickly: It cheapens the weight of Heart 魔. Give enough time inside pain.
- Turning Godai into a villain: He is only a merchant. Loyalty to profit is not evil.
