#Myth-Crossover Divine Treasures, 3 Kinds
Cases where the same weapon appears as a different legend across multiple myths. Or a fusion of multiple myths. The GM decides at their discretion which legend to adopt.
#§ 3 Crossovers
#45-10-01. Excalibur Variants (Excalibur Variants)
Scent: Other legends of Excalibur (45-01-01):
- Sword of the Lake: given by the Lady of the Lake (the orthodox version of 45-01-01)
- Sword in the Stone (Sword in the Stone): drawing a sword lodged in stone → worthy to be king
- Lake+Stone fusion: both legends apply simultaneously
Basic: great tachi (same as 45-01-01)
Effect: same as 45-01-01. However, additional options:
Sword in the Stone variant:
- Blessing enhancement: at own-class dan 5 or higher, or upon recognition of kingship, an additional effect — authority +2 (a double emphasis on being worthy to be king).
- Curse enhancement: when worthiness is lacking, the sword is immediately sealed.
Lake+Stone fusion variant:
- Blessing + the Lady of the Lake's protection: +1 extra in lake/water environments.
- Curse + the Lake's caprice: 1 time per 1 session, a 2d10 opposed check (caster's Wisdom vs Excalibur's sanctity Target Number 13, the core 03-01 2d10 system). On failure, the sword is sealed for 1 session.
Approach: according to the campaign tone/legend adoption.
#45-10-02. Durendal + Joyeuse Fusion (Durendal + Joyeuse)
Scent: Durendal (45-01-02) and Joyeuse (45-01-03) are both swords of the Charlemagne era. A fictional sword that fuses the two legends.
Basic: great tachi
Techniques:
| Technique | Type | Energy | Check | Effect | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sacred Severing | [Kata] | 4 | Courage+Swordsmanship >= Defense+2 | 6 Wounds; severs rock; light in 1 zone (a fusion of 45-01-02 + 45-01-03) | 1 time per 1 session |
- Blessing [aptitude]: immunity to weapon Break + Bearing +2 (a fusion of both Divine Treasures' blessings).
- Curse [aptitude]: on the user's death, the sword is permanently sealed + on violence against the weak, it loses its light (a fusion of both curses).
- Devotion: Catholic Faith + royal-authority thought.
Approach: a large scenario reward (fictional fusion). A core event of the campaign.
#45-10-03. Tenka Issen (天下一劍, fictional Eastern fusion)
Scent: A fictional divine sword that fuses the spirit of the Eastern divine swords (Ganjiang Moye, the Qinghong Sword, Guan Yu's Green Dragon Crescent Blade, etc.). It is not an actual sword, but an ideal that a single swordsman pursues throughout life.
Basic: katana (fictional — imbues the spirit into any katana the PC holds)
Effect: the PC imbues the spirit into only one katana in their lifetime. After 5 or more sessions of use:
- katana effect +1 (permanent).
- the PC automatically gains renown +1 (the ideal of Tenka Issen).
- on loss/replacement of the katana, the spirit is lost (re-accumulation takes 5 sessions).
- Blessing [aptitude]: suited to a PC of wulin/Eastern thought.
- Curse [aptitude]: unsuited to a PC who switches between two weapons.
- Devotion: the ideal of a single blade.
Approach: pursuit of the ideal — using one katana for 5 or more sessions. Altered name (an Eastern fictional fusion).
#§ Usage Recommendations
- The GM decides the campaign tone/legend adoption.
- Prior agreement with PCs: fusion Divine Treasures have a large impact on the campaign tone.
- Limited to 1 fusion Divine Treasure per 1 campaign: if too many fusion Divine Treasures appear, it upsets the campaign balance.
