#About This Book — Anmen Shinkyo
Contents
This book is not a book for dressing up evildoing as something cool. It is a book that treats with what words evildoing begins, what price it leaves behind, and why it becomes hard to turn back from.
#Introductory Fragment — The Day the Reason Vanished
At first he spoke a reason.
"We must close the castle gate. If the enemy gets inside, more people will die."
The second time too he spoke a reason.
"That prisoner knows information. With one person's suffering we can save a hundred."
The third time the reason grew short.
"It is necessary."
The fourth time he said nothing at all. He gave the order, stepped back, and wiped the blood from the blade. The Pure Land Monk drew near and asked, "Why?"
He thought for a while. He truly thought. And he could not answer.
At that moment the GM said to the player. "From now on, what matters is not what you did, but that you no longer explain."
#Why This Book Is Written
The villain play of Konsei Reiyotan is not simply a mode for choosing more cruel options.
The fiend classes already exist in co. The Shurado fights, the Dokuchushi erodes, the Tatarigami metes out punishment, and the Zakkasho sells everything. But data alone is not enough. To play a fiend, or to place a fiend NPC at the center of a session, you must know why he left the place of a human.
This volume makes that reason.
- which good word, at what point, becomes a sentence of violence.
- which wound, at what point, becomes revenge against the whole world.
- which freedom, at what point, becomes an evasion of responsibility.
- which No Heart, at what point, becomes a silence that has lost its Humanity.
#This Book Is Not a Rulebook
This volume has no new fiend class. It does not alter the techniques of the existing fiend classes, nor does it create new Sorcery or new schools.
However, chapter 05 exceptionally carries the internal equipment data of fc07. It provides weapons, armor, tools, accessories, cult items, and items that originated from intense evildoing or atrocity for fiends, in line with the equipment templates of co.
The uses of this book are three.
- It makes vivid the path of corruption of a fiend PC.
- It makes the motive and scene language of a fiend NPC.
- It keeps a villain campaign from losing the table's consent and accountability for outcomes.
For class values and technique operation, see co. For equipment values, you may use chapter 05. This book suits pre-session consent, the character's inner life, scene design, campaign conclusion, and villain equipment hooks.

#The Core Principles of This Volume
| Principle | Meaning |
|---|---|
| A fiend is not a yoma | A fiend is one who has strayed from the place of a human. This is not a commentary on yoma PCs. |
| Evildoing is not a reward | A dark choice is not a stronger reward table but invites a heavier outcome. |
| Equipment is evidence | Fiend equipment is not a mere bonus; it brings along the source of the evildoing and the next scenario hook. |
| Consent comes first | A villain campaign does not begin without the prior agreement of everyone at the table. |
| Corruption is a process | More than a single cruel act, what matters is the structure of repeating the same excuse. |
| A hero is necessary | Villain play too needs a mirror. A hero NPC or hero PC gives the dark side its outline. |
| Decide the way back | Agree in advance which of repentance, execution, sealing, flight, or downfall is possible. |
#Moments When This Book Is Useful
- When you mean to allow a fiend PC, but want to keep it from becoming a mere combat monster.
- When you must explain in more than one sentence why a fiend NPC made such a choice.
- When you want to use the Hegemony, Void, Demon, and No Heart of the Three Ways and Six Hearts as a central question of the campaign.
- When you prepare a long campaign in which the hero party too might fall into corruption.
- When a villain faction has won or lost, and you want to organize the traces left upon the world.
#A Word from the Writer
The easiest mistake in villain play is to see the villain only as a free being. In reality it is the opposite. Hegemony is imprisoned in its own order, Void in its own abandonment, Demon in its own instinct, and No Heart in the empty ledger of its own gain.
When you can see what the one who appears free is bound to, dark-side play gains its power.
The way of evil is not a door but a habit — keep treading the same excuse, and before you know it, it has become a road.
