#Build Index — By Class, Dual Class, and Source

Contents

Summary. This index does not create data — it only reorders the facts created by the 02-series dan cards under class, combination, and source keys, then links to them. For finding by scene, use the role and region index; for quick dan/role answers, use the quick reference.

#Scent — Opening the Jinmeicho Backward

This index opens the volume arranged by dan in reverse — by class and source. It solves "which NPCs used this class?", "which dan has the ronin + shinobi combination?", and "I want only NPCs usable without turning on ex2" on one screen.

#Law 1 — Primary-Class Index (18 Official Classes)

Class classification and role groups are taken directly from the co-04-07-00 class index. List each character 1 time by primary class — secondary-class appearances go to §Law 2 (dual build). Commoner is not a class, so §Law 1 does not cover it (ex1-99-06 — see §Law 3 and each dan card for the 10 Commoners).

3 outsider classes (modern person, heroic spirit, celestial) / fiend class: not included in this volume. Modern people are covered by fc10, while fiends and villains are covered by fc07. (Parentheses mark the Dan 10 Renown Title or dual-build title.)

Primary-class total: 50 characters (38 single-class + 12 dual-class — dual-class characters are listed 1 time by primary class). + 10 Commoners = 60.

#Law 2 — Dual-Build Combination Index

This table has a 1:1 correspondence with the 12 canon-dedicated Renown Title combinations in dual build patterns. Total dan is always ≤10 Dan (co-04-02). A Renown Title is only a Dan 10 title, not "+N".

12 dual-class characters = 10 characters from Dan 3-9 (Black Merchant, Fuma, Confucian General, Astronomical Officer, Gunsmith, Dharma Music, Nio, Geomantic Strategist, Divine Power, Great Kamuy) + 2 characters from Dan 10 (Dharma Body, Ley-Line Master). 12 combinations, 12 characters — all are declared at Dan 3 or higher, borrow only secondary-class Dan 1, 3, and 5 talents, and do not gain the secondary-class Renown Title (for detailed conditions, see NPC creation and advancement check procedure §Law 3).

#Law 3 — Source-Used Index

This gathers only NPCs that use sources outside co as mechanical effects. Notation follows the source badge rules. Fiction-Only material (backstory and scent) is not a mechanical-effect source, so it is excluded from this table (co-99-01).

#ex1 — Commoners and Livelihoods (10 Commoners)

NPC (Dan)Used ItemSource BadgeWithout ex1

Dan 10 Torazo of BizenCommoner Dan 9 · Livelihood:Blacksmithing (Master Artisan)non-combat legendary NPC

Commoner is NPC-only and capped at Dan 9 — even the Dan 10 chapter's slot is a Dan 9 Commoner Master Artisan. Every Commoner card includes the line "without ex1 — replace with an unranked non-combat NPC" (self-contained rule).

#ex2 — Optional Module

Not used in this volume. All 60 fc11 characters work with only co canon (+ ex1 for Commoners) — a table that has not turned on the ex2 module can still use all 60 characters as written. (If the GM wants, ex2 schools, spells, or props can be layered on under the source-badge rules, but this volume's cards do not assume ex2.)

#co-07 / fc05 — Masterworks and Divine Objects (Narrow Canon, This Volume Only)

NPC (Dan)Masterwork/Divine ObjectSource

Dan 8 Myojinni of Usadivine object "Great Shrine Mirror"[co-07-03]
Dan 9 Muso of Kazamatsurimasterwork "Fudan" (sword)[co-07-02]·[fc05-04-01]

Dan 10 Hojo Gensetsusaimasterwork "Tenka Muso" (sword) · "Teppeki no Gusoku" (armor)[co-07-02]
Dan 10 Dainichibo of Koyadivine object "Dainichi Nyorai Relic"[co-07-03]

Masterworks/divine objects were assigned only at Dan 7 or higher (because masterwork techniques require Master rank (4 points; Master itself is possible from Dan 2). Every card separately records ownership condition, Curse/cost, and source (NPC creation and advancement check procedure §Law 5). This volume's masterworks/divine objects are narrow Canon — they do not overwrite the co canon masterworks.

#Law 4 — Index Checksum

  • All 60 characters are listed exactly 1 time as §Law 1 (50 primary classes) + 10 Commoners.
  • All 18 classes appear at least 1 time as a primary class.
  • The 12 combinations in §Law 2 correspond 1:1 to the 12 Renown Title table in dual build patterns.
  • Under §Law 3, ex2 citations are 0. Every NPC is independent of ex2, so they can be used without On/Off preparation.
  • All 9 masterworks/divine objects keep narrow Canon, ownership condition, and source on their cards. Fiction-Only documents are not used as mechanical-effect sources.

Role/region keys belong to 99-02, and quick dan/role answers belong to 99-03 — the three indexes view the same 60 characters only from different axes.

"The same sixty characters become a build guide when opened by class, and a table's prep list when opened by source."
