#Equipment and Consumables (裝備, Equipment)
Contents
A list of non-weapon equipment, armor, shields, tools, and consumables.

#3 Masterwork Armors
#Masterwork 1: Great Armor of the Honmaru (本丸の大甲) — Armor of Suppression
A legendary o-yoroi said to have been worn by the first lord of Kagura Domain. Its shoulder armor is especially thick, enabling the Shoulder Catch (肩受け) technique, which receives an enemy blade with the shoulder.

| Large Shield (大盾) | +2 | Shield only (cannot attack). Squad shield-wall only. |
#Baggage and Overburdening (荷物と過積載)
#Scent
The things a PC carries onto the battlefield are not only weapons and armor. Food, blankets, cooking tools, spare arrows, rope, camping supplies, and various living tools move with them. But these loads are not weighed every time. Beside a hero are squads and retainers, porters, horses, and carts; war becomes possible when such hands move together.
#Law
- Ordinary baggage: Food, living tools, camping supplies, and similar baggage, excluding directly equipped arms, portable consumables, and tools, are basically divided among the squad accompanying the PC. Unless it is clearly a large amount of baggage, no separate weight limit applies.
- Mass hauling: If a character has no squad, or must carry a large amount of baggage directly without a mount, the GM may treat the carrier as Overburdened. The same applies when one person carries obviously heavy objects such as living supplies, large boxes, sealed relics, heavy stone, wounded people, or large trophies.
- Overburdened: Treat as if wearing heavy armor. Maximum Energy -1, Infiltration -2. If already wearing heavy armor or heavier, the GM may impose additional disadvantage on long-distance travel, pursuit, and Infiltration checks.
- Resource-management standard: In campaigns where food and travel gear matter, treat a character as Overburdened from the moment 1 person directly carries 10 days of food and travel gear.
#Tools and Consumables

|---|---|---|
| Herb Pouch | 1 gold | Outside combat, recover 2 Wounds (1 person). |
| Antidote | 1 gold | Immediately remove poison status. |

#Tactics Manuals and Secret Manuals (戰術書·秘傳書)
#Scent — Human Warcraft
Kami power resides in Divine Treasures, and a craftsman's soul dwells in masterwork weapons. But tactics manuals and secret manuals contain only human wisdom. There is no blessing of the gods, no curse of yoma — only warcraft(戰法) built from blood and sweat on the battlefield. For that reason, tactics are human.
Tactics manuals grant new tactics to squads. When a commander reads the book and trains the squad, the squad learns a new warcraft.
#Law — Rules
| Type | Definition | Acquisition | Copy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tactics Manual (戰術書) | permanently add 1 [Tactic:Kata] to a squad | 10~20 gold, market purchase | can be copied (Wisdom check>=13, 5 gold) |
| Secret Manual (秘傳書) | permanently add 1 [Tactic:Stance] or [Tactic:Aptitude] to a squad | scenario reward only | cannot be copied (unique item) |
- Limit: Total tactics manuals/secret manuals one squad can possess: up to 2.
- No Divine Treasure: Tactics manuals/secret manuals have no Divine Treasure. Tactics are made by humans.
- Application: To apply a tactics manual to a squad, the commander must spend 1 day of non-combat time training the squad.
#General Tactics Manuals (5 types) — Available on the Market
#1. Copy of Sunzi Bingfa, Fire Attack Chapter (孫子兵法 火攻篇)
Resonance: A Japanese translation of the Fire Attack chapter among the thirteen chapters of Sunzi Bingfa, transmitted from Ming(明). The original is kept in the Sakai Guild's secret archive. Copies circulate among scholars and generals across the Sengoku. It teaches that "burning the enemy's supplies is the best tactic."
When a Sakai Guild scholar first translated it, Kagura Domain generals competed to obtain copies. The Hiei Alliance treated it warily as "a book of a foreign faith," but rumor says even warrior monks read it in secret.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Granted Tactic | [Tactic:Kata] Fire Attack (火攻) |
| Added Cost | +1 |
| Check | 2d10 >= 11 |
| Effect | Give the target zone the "flame" environmental gimmick (each lull, everyone in the zone takes 1 Wound; disappears after 2~3 rounds). Minion/Mob squads immediately suffer Cohesion -2 (fire fear). |
| Limit | 1 time/combat |
| Price | 12 gold |
#2. Excerpts from the Six Secret Teachings and Three Strategies (六韜三略 抄錄)
Resonance: An excerpt from the legendary military texts Six Secret Teachings (六韜) and Three Strategies (三略), said to have been transmitted by Taigong Wang(太公望), Lu Shang(呂尚), to King Wu of Zhou. It is the source of battle formations(陣法). The prototype of the "spear wall," which raises spears in the Front Zone to stop enemies, is in this book.
It had been passed down through warrior houses(武家) in Kanto, but copies leaked and began appearing on the market. It is expensive, but simply reading it visibly raises a squad's defensive power.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Granted Tactic | [Tactic:Stance] Three-Rank Spear Wall (三段槍壁) |
| Added Cost | base |
| Effect | Squad Domination contribution x1.5 (round). Cannot move. Enemy Breakthrough Target Number +1. |
| Limit | maintain (removed on release/movement) |
| Price | 15 gold |
#3. Excerpts from Wuzi Bingfa (吳子兵法 抄錄)
Resonance: A military text written by Wu Qi(吳起). A rare book that teaches the art of retreat rather than advance. "Retreat is not defeat — it is preparation for the next advance." Peasant leaders of the Ikko-ikki read this book and learned a warcraft of collapsing, then rising again.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Granted Tactic | [Tactic:Kata] Organized Retreat (組織的後退) |
| Added Cost | base |
| Effect | When the squad moves backward, Cohesion decreases not at all (ordinary retreat is Cohesion -1). After moving, it may immediately declare 1 additional [Tactic:Stance]. |
| Limit | — |
| Price | 10 gold |
#4. Tobyosho (鬪兵書)
Resonance: A written compilation of practical archery instruction orally transmitted among Kanto warrior houses. The core is not how to shoot a bow, but how to command archer squads. "The angle of volley fire," "the timing for reading the wind," "target priority" — everything about squad archery.
An Ogasawara-ryu archer despised this book as "low battlefield technique," but in actual battle, archer units trained by this book felled more enemies than Ogasawara-ryu ceremonial archery.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Granted Tactic | [Tactic:Kata] Volley Fire Enhancement (一齊射擊 强化) |
| Added Cost | base |
| Check | 2d10 >= target Defense |
| Effect | Bow squad only. Raise the hit-strength table by one step (hit → sum 13+, sum 13+ → sum 17+, sum 17+ → Critical Hit). Can remove up to 4 Minions. Veteran+ suffers additional Cohesion -1. |
| Limit | — |
| Price | 10 gold |
#5. Nanban Theory of Tactics (南蠻戰術論)
Resonance: A book translated by a Sakai Guild interpreter from a firearm operation manual written by a Portuguese soldier. The principle of "three-rank firing" — while the 1st rank fires, the 2nd rank loads, and the 3rd rank waits in a continuous firing method. It dramatically raises the combat power of teppo squads.
After Kagura Nobutsuna obtained this book, Kagura Domain's teppo units became the strongest in the Sengoku. The Sakai Guild makes copies of this book and sells them to other factions — of course, it is a secret from Kagura Domain.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Granted Tactic | [Tactic:Kata] Three-Rank Fire (三段射擊) |
| Added Cost | +1 |
| Check | 2d10 >= target Defense (3 checks) |
| Effect | Gun/bow squad only. 3-shift continuous fire. For each check, remove 1~3 Minions / Veteran+ takes 1 Wound. 1 time per round. |
| Limit | 1 time/round |
| Price | 20 gold |
#Masterwork Secret Manuals (7 types) — Unique Items, Scenario Rewards
Secret manuals are books of which there is only one in the world. They cannot be copied. If lost, that is the end. Each has its own history and story.
#1. Secret Text of the Taiheiki (太平記 秘本) — "Kusunoki's Wings"
Resonance: The original record of the formation Kusunoki Masashige(楠木正成) used during the Genko War(元弘の乱). It contains detailed operation of the Crane-Wing Formation (鶴翼陣), which the official history(正史) Taiheiki records only briefly. It was kept by Masashige's direct descendants, lost in war, and discovered in a secret vault of the Sakai Guild.
Whoever obtains this book becomes a ruler of the battlefield. A formation that spreads wings like a crane and enfolds the enemy — one squad controls two zones at once.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Granted Tactic | [Tactic:Stance] Crane-Wing Formation (鶴翼陣) |
| Added Cost | base |
| Effect | Squad is deployed across 2 zones. Contributes Domination +2 to each of both zones. Cannot move. On release, choose one zone and regroup there. |
| Limit | maintain |
| Learning Condition | scholar, or commander with Wisdom+2 or higher |
#2. Excerpts from the Wujing Zongyao (武經總要 拔萃本) — "Continental Horsemanship"
Resonance: Smuggled goods containing only the cavalry-war section excerpted from Wujing Zongyao, a military encyclopedia from China's Northern Song(北宋). The original is in Classical Chinese, so it cannot be deciphered without Stratagem Licensed(3 points) or higher, or Military Science Licensed(3 points) or higher. The cavalry charge tactics recorded in this book raise Sengoku cavalry operation by one step.
A Kunitomo Guild scholar obtained it from a continental merchant, failed to decipher it, and left it aside. If a scholar PC deciphers it, the strongest cavalry charge warcraft in the Sengoku opens.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Granted Tactic | [Tactic:Kata] Cavalry Charge (騎馬突擊) |
| Added Cost | +1 |
| Check | 2d10+2 >= target Defense |
| Effect | Cavalry squad only. Move + attack together. Charge check +2. Remove 1~4 Minions (hit strength +1 step) / Veteran+ takes 2 Wounds. Zone Breakthrough automatically succeeds. |
| Limit | 1 time/round |
| Learning Condition | Stratagem Licensed(3 points)+ or Military Science Licensed(3 points)+ (Classical Chinese deciphering) |
#3. Kumano Warrior-Monk Secret Manual (熊野僧兵秘傳書) — "Mountain Barrier"
Resonance: The first written record of a spiritual formation orally transmitted for generations by warrior monks in the mountains of Kumano(熊野). A Dharma-Protection Barrier deployment method unique to mountain Shugendo, absent from the Hiei Alliance's official doctrine. Even the high abbot of the Hiei Alliance does not know this book exists.
An old monk of Kumano left it to a trusted disciple before death. "Do not hand this to Hiei. The mountain barrier can be used only by those who came from the mountain."
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Granted Tactic | [Tactic:Stance] Dharma-Protection Barrier (護法結界) |
| Added Cost | +1 |
| Effect | Deploy a barrier in the squad's zone. When yoma enter, 2 Wounds / entry check(Wisdom >= 11). Squads inside the barrier gain fear immunity. |
| Limit | maintain |
| Learning Condition | esoteric monk/shugenja, or Exorcism acquired(2 points)+ |
#4. Fuma Ninpocho (風魔忍法帖) — "Wind Ambush"
Resonance: A ninjutsu book directly recorded by Fuma Kotaro himself. A compilation of ambush warcraft: move like wind, vanish like shadow, and end the fight before the enemy notices. Anyone outside the Fuma Band who read this book did not return alive — until now.
Possessing this book is itself a challenge to the Fuma Band. The Fuma Band will send shinobi to recover it. It is a scenario hook in itself.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Granted Tactic | [Tactic:Kata] Flank Zone Ambush (外廓迂回奇襲) |
| Added Cost | +1 |
| Check | 2d10+3 >= target Defense |
| Effect | Squad appears in the enemy Rear Zone by passing through the Flank Zone + ambush attack. Check +3. Remove 1~4 Minions (hit strength +1 step) / Veteran+ takes 2 Wounds. Infiltration is released after the ambush. |
| Limit | 1 time/combat |
| Learning Condition | shinobi or Ninjutsu acquired+ |
#5. Ikko-ikki Blood Oath (一向一揆 血書) — "Oath of No Retreat"
Resonance: An oath written by peasants in their own blood. On one sheet of paper are hundreds of thumbprints in blood. "Once we stand, we do not retreat. Namu Amida Butsu." This is not a tactics manual, but proof of faith.
If this blood oath is unfolded at the front lines of the Ikko-ikki, peasant squads become warriors with iron will. Their Cohesion does not collapse. They do not fear death.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Granted Tactic | [Tactic:Aptitude] No Retreat (不退轉) |
| Effect | Even if Cohesion becomes 0, the squad does not collapse. During each lull, it automatically returns to Cohesion 1. Limited to 3 times per combat. |
| Limit | always on (aptitude) |
| Learning Condition | none (there is no need to read letters — it is written in blood) |
#6. Kunitomo Gunnery Manual (國友砲術敎範) — "One Hundred Thunders"
Resonance: A confidential Kunitomo Guild document. It records how to command a volley by 100 teppo. A higher warcraft than three-rank firing — chain bombardment(連環砲擊). When the first rank fires, the second rank immediately fires, then the third rank follows, and when the first rank finishes loading, it fires again. Unbroken firepower.
If this manual leaks, the tactical landscape of the Sengoku will change. Kunitomo Zenbee keeps this manual in the safe of his workshop and has swallowed the key.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Granted Tactic | [Tactic:Kata] Chain Bombardment (連環砲擊) |
| Added Cost | +2 |
| Check | 2d10+3 >= target Defense |
| Effect | Gun squad only. Check against every enemy in the target zone. On each success: remove 1~3 Minions / Veteran+ takes 2 Wounds. |
| Limit | 1 time/combat |
| Learning Condition | Archery acquired+ or Kunitomo Guild member |
#7. Emishi Oral Warcraft (蝦夷戰法口傳) — "Hunt of the Earth"
Resonance: It has never been recorded in letters. An Emishi elder recites it, and a wildlander warrior remembers it. This "book" is the first record written in the wildlander language — first written down by a young Emishi warrior "to pass it to later generations."
It is written not in Yamato(大和) letters, but in the Emishi's own letters. It cannot be deciphered except by a wildlander or an Enryokan scholar. Its contents are the method of hunting with kamuy: a primitive but effective warcraft that shakes the earth, drives beasts, and drops them from cliffs.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Granted Tactic | [Tactic:Kata] Beast Charge (野獸突擊) |
| Added Cost | +1 |
| Check | automatic |
| Effect | Mental Save(Courage >= 11) for every enemy in the same zone. On failure, fear + forced movement of all enemy units in the zone(adjacent zone). Minions/Mobs roll d100 per 1 body while moving; on 01~30, 1 Wound (lost in the confusion). |
| Limit | 1 time/combat |
| Learning Condition | wildlander or able to decipher the Emishi language |
There is no Divine Treasure in a tactics manual. Tactics belong to humans. What the gods did not teach — humans created for themselves.
