#Scent — The Appendix's Place

The body text is a long river. There is a story that flows slowly from chapter to chapter, and that story changes the PC's Heart at its own pace. But at the session table, what the GM can hold in hand is not a long river — it is a single sheet of paper. What are this yoma's Wounds and Defense right now? Which Heart does that relic resonate with right now? What equipment suits a Tier 1 PC made on the spot today? This four-page appendix is that single sheet of paper.

Like a bundle of notes gathered in an old box in a quiet room — the index goes in front, and the back is stacked in easy-to-find order. Bestiary · relics · templates · quick reference. That order.


#Law — This Appendix's Structure

This supplement's appendix is composed of six documents. Much shorter than the main volume's 16-document appendix, but it contains only the operational content unique to this supplement. Anything already in the main volume is not duplicated here.

#How to Use This Appendix

#GM Usage Order

  1. Before the session starts: Skim 99-04 Quick Reference once (3 minutes). Write the current Barrier HP value, core inventory, and squad slot status on your sheet.
  2. When an encounter occurs: Look up the chapter and name in the 99-01 index table, then jump to the chapter bestiary for detailed stats. If using a smartphone or tablet, it is recommended to open both tabs simultaneously.
  3. When a relic is acquired: Look up the item in 99-02. Apply blessings and Curses immediately; confirm conditions for masterwork techniques and devotion techniques.
  4. When a new PC joins: Choose one template from 99-03 and complete the character with the player within 30 minutes.

#Player Usage Order

  1. Character creation: Read 99-03 and select a template → personal variation.
  2. During an encounter: When the GM reveals stats, check 99-04 for this supplement's unique keywords (Barrier HP stage, Romance Affinity stage, etc.).
  3. When a relic is acquired: Check 99-02 for blessings and Curses → learn devotion conditions.
  4. When harvesting a yoma core: Check the 99-04 core grade table → Target Number.

#Reconfirming the Authority Principle

The main volume is Canon. This supplement is an extension of Canon. When two rules conflict, the main volume takes precedence. In case of doubt, return to the main volume 99-meta/99-authority.md.

#Authority Order of This Appendix's 4 Documents

  1. Main volume appendix — 16 documents — Highest. Dice, rounds, Energy, units, armor, squad command costs, and other general rules are Canon here.
  2. This supplement's body text — The original source of campaign-specific rules. Barrier HP, core economy, 2-slot squads, romance, etc.
  3. This appendix 99-04 Quick Reference — Condenses the body text. If the condensed version diverges from the body text, body text takes precedence. When a body-text bug is found, fix the body text → regenerate the appendix.
  4. This appendix 99-01~03 — Index and catalog of entities defined in the body text. The chapter bestiary detail in the body text takes precedence.

#Operating Principles for This Appendix

  1. No duplication. Anything in the main volume appendix is not rewritten here. "See main volume 11-01" and done.
  2. Index first. Detail is in the body text. The appendix is a map of "what is where."
  3. Immediately referenceable. A structure that can be opened within 3 seconds at the session table. Hierarchy shallow, tables dense.
  4. Main volume takes precedence on conflict. If even one line diverges from the main volume, revert to the main volume.
  5. PC templates are narrative. 99-03 does not merely list stats. 3–5 narrative paragraphs + family + motivation make it immediately playable.
