#Scent — Another Person's Hands

Pick up someone else's object and you feel their hands.

There were those who fell into the Spirit Realm before you. 100 years ago, 300 years ago, a thousand years ago. People whose very names were never recorded — yet the objects worn smooth by their hands lie scattered somewhere in this land. The Ash Sword was a samurai's final strike. The Western Compass was a merchant's final direction. The Phantom Armor was a general's final pride.

After the domain began its drift, the PCs will pick these objects up one by one. Pick one up and you hear a little of that person's story. Look deep enough and you see that person's heart. When a PC aligns their own heart with the relic's heart, the relic responds. That is the devotion technique.

Not everything is a relic left behind. Objects native to the hells — the Black Rope's chains, the Screaming Hell's gourd, the Shonetsu seal, the Hellfire fan. Things that yoma once held in their hands. PCs receive them as the price of defeating those yoma.

And then — there are gifts handed directly by yoma whose Negotiation succeeded. The undecaying chieftain's broken spear. The Black Rope monk's necklace. Kasakura's lantern. These objects are not gifts without a price. The yoma's heart remains within them, watching over the PC.

Finally — Sealing Stone Fragments. Stone shards that fall each time Mumyo is shattered in Chapter 5. These shards are not relics. They are fragments of the seal itself. Objects made from them are unlike any other relic.

#Law — The Structure of This Catalog

The relics in this supplement are in the Japanese weapon/Divine Treasure lineage, so they follow the devotion conditions of core 07-03 Divine Treasure. The [Exotic Adaptation] feat is not required. #Part 1: Previous Drifter Relics 5

Common Background: Before Kagamiyama, others had already fallen into the Spirit Realm. A Nanban trading vessel 100 years ago, the troops of a warlord 300 years ago, a monk's pilgrimage 700 years ago, people whose very names were never recorded. Their relics are scattered throughout the Spirit Realm, and the PCs gradually collect them over the long journey of this supplement.

#1. Ash Sword (灰の劍) [Divine Treasure]

A samurai's final strike was preserved in the blade. Who he was and which side he fought for was never recorded. Yet — his last cry remained as fire in the blade, and has flowed through the Spirit Realm to this day.

  • Weapon Type: uchigatana (standard sword)
  • Discovery Location: Reviving Hell, iron-colored plain — Act 2, Chapter 1, "River of Iron Stench" event. Alternatively, can be unearthed via the undecaying chieftain's testimony.
  • Blessing [aptitude]: Burn Immunity — whoever carries this sword at their waist automatically resists ordinary fire, hellfire, and flame damage (50%).
  • Curse [aptitude]: Heart Chill — whoever carries this sword takes a -1 penalty to checks for actions that raise Romance Affinity (the flames burned out the heart).
TechniqueEnergyEffectLimit
[masterwork] Hellfire Flash (業火一閃)32d10+Courage+Swordsmanship+2 >= Defense. 2 Wounds + target gains "Hellfire" status (1 Wound reduction at the start of each round for 3 rounds).1 time per round
[devotion] Phoenix Transformation (不死鳥變容)6Activates 1 time only at the moment your own Wounds drop to 0 or below. Recover half Wounds (round up) + +3 to attack and Defense for 3 rounds. 1 time per session. After activation, Curse worsens (Heart Chill -2).1 time per session

Devotion Condition: Hegemony or Demon. The resolve: "My final strike will set someone ablaze."

Discovery Narrative: The PC finds a half-rusted sword on the iron-colored plain. The moment they take hold of it, one scene flashes through their mind — who the sword's last owner was trying to cut down. If that scene aligns with the PC's Three Ways and Six Hearts, the blade briefly ignites.

#2. Western Compass (西の羅針盤) [Divine Treasure]

The compass that a navigator of a Nanban trading vessel — who fell into this Spirit Realm 100 years ago — held until the very end. The needle no longer points north. Instead, the needle points to itself. That is, in the direction the bearer's heart needs most.

  • Item Type: accessory (worn at the waist or kept in the breast)
  • Discovery Location: Captain's cabin of the sunken ship in Screaming Hell — found in Act 3, Chapter 3, "Graveyard of Ships." Alternatively, a probability drop when the funayurei leader is defeated.
  • Blessing [aptitude]: Direction's Protection — +3 to Spirit Realm relocation checks (03-02 Spirit Realm Relocation). Spirit Realm Exposure -1/session.
  • Curse [aptitude]: Westward Compulsion — Each session, if d100 rolls 01–10, the urge "I must go west" arises. Resistance check: 2d10+Wisdom >= 11. On failure, the PC prioritizes westward movement for that session.
TechniqueEnergyEffectLimit
[masterwork] Direction Read (方位看破)2Roughly identify the direction of any destination (person, place, or relic) the PC wishes to reach. +1 additional bonus to relocation checks toward a specific point in the Spirit Realm.1 time per session
[devotion] Western Lighthouse (西の燈台)5All domain members can pinpoint the PC's current location exactly (easy reassembly in open world). Barrier HP +3 (reassurance of gathering).1 time per session

Devotion Condition: Truth or Void. The awareness: "I can honestly tell myself where I want to go."

Discovery Narrative: The moment the PC lifts the old compass from the sunken ship in Screaming Hell, the word "west" surfaces in their mind. The compass's former owner kept searching for home until the very end. That direction passes on to the PC.

#3. Phantom Armor (幻想甲冑) [masterwork]

A general's armor. There is no record of which era or which side he was from. The armor is old — but it is still warm to the touch. Whoever wears it feels the lingering echo of a battle the armor's former owner once endured.

  • Armor Type: heavy armor (Defense +14, Energy -1 — per core 11-01 Armor standards)
  • Discovery Location: Core Zone of the Forest of Chains in Black Rope Hell — found bound in chains midway through Act 4, Chapter 2, "The Mother's Nest." Freed when the Mother is defeated.
  • Blessing [aptitude]: Absence (masterwork)
  • Curse [aptitude]: Absence (masterwork)
  • Skill Master Condition: Unarmed Combat Master (4 points) or Stratagem Master.
TechniqueEnergyEffectLimit
[masterwork] Phantom General's Formation (幻将陣)4Own Cohesion +2 permanent (for this battle). Allied squad Cohesion +1 in the same zone. "The spirit of a vanished general settles in."1 time per battle

Discovery Narrative: The former owner of this armor was someone who, in Black Rope Hell, made the decision that "not everything can be saved." When the armor is worn, the weight of that decision settles on the PC's shoulders.

Master Play: When a 4-point Master wears this armor in battle, a faint blue light emanates from the armor. To enemies it creates the impression of "one general appearing as two." A tool for RP direction.

#4. Mumyo Temple Prayer Beads (無名寺念珠) [Divine Treasure]

Prayer beads that a monk of an unnamed temple held last as he walked the Spirit Realm. Which sect he was from and which temple he came from is unknown. Yet those prayer beads — resist the loss of a name.

  • Accessory Type: prayer beads (wrist or neck)
  • Discovery Location: Just before entering Avici Hell — beneath a small stone statue inside a cave in Act 1, Chapter 5, "The Unnamed Mountain Path."
  • Blessing [aptitude]: Name's Protection — +5 to resistance checks against all "name loss" effects. Automatic resistance to Mumyo's "Name Bestowal" attack (1 time/session).
  • Curse [aptitude]: Weight of Memory — whoever wears these beads is easily stained by others' grief. When Spirit Realm Exposure increases, +1 additional (03-02 Spirit Realm Relocation).
TechniqueEnergyEffectLimit
[masterwork] Mumyo Temple Prayer (無名寺祈禱)2Immediately remove the "name loss" or "Confusion" status from 1 allied unit in the same zone. Merit Heart +1.1 time per round
[devotion] Nameless Compassion (無名慈悲)6All "name"-related effects across the entire battlefield become void for 1 round. Especially powerful in the Mumyo battle (automatic resistance to P2 Name Bestowal).1 time per session

Devotion Condition: Compassion or Void. The awareness: "Even without a name — I am here."

Discovery Narrative: When the PC grasps these beads, a sutra-like chant — "Namu Amida Butsu" — repeats endlessly inside their mind. At first it is hard to endure — but once accustomed, the sound mingles with the PC's own heartbeat.

#5. Sealed Diary (封印日記) [Divine Treasure]

A diary written last by a woman in the Spirit Realm. Bound with black silk. Untie the knot and her final few days can be read, page by page. But whoever reads it takes a part of her memory as their own.

  • Item Type: book (kept in the breast)
  • Discovery Location: Underground of Fushinsha in Scorching Heat Hell — found in Act 3, Chapter 4, "The Ash Archive." Alternatively, obtained just before the large-scale collapse of settlement-faction Half-Ash figures.
  • Blessing [aptitude]: Shared Memory — The PC carries fragments of this woman's memories. +2 to Military Science checks; automatic success on history questions related to the Barrier.
  • Curse [aptitude]: Her Grief — At the start of each session, on a d100 roll of 01–05, "her feelings overflow" and the PC cannot act in the first round.
TechniqueEnergyEffectLimit
[masterwork] Diary Recitation (日記読誦)2For 1 round the PC can draw directly on the knowledge from this woman's memories. Automatic success on Wisdom checks that round (Military Science, Perception, Exorcism knowledge).1 time per session
[devotion] Her Final Decision (彼女の最終決斷)7Read the diary's last page aloud — her final decision is reenacted at the scene. All enemy squads across the entire battlefield suffer 2 Wounds reduction + Cohesion -3. One diary page is permanently consumed.Up to 3 times per campaign

Devotion Condition: Void or Truth. The heart: "I am ready to hear another person's story."

Discovery Narrative: The woman who wrote this diary took her own life just before entering Avici Hell. The record of her final few days tests the reader's heart. Some pages hold laughter, some hold despair. The PC must accept her entire life.

Warning: This relic may use the devotion technique up to 3 times per campaign. Once all 3 pages are read, the diary turns to blank white pages.

#Part 2: Hell-Native Objects 4

Common Background: Objects once carried by yoma of the 5 major hells. PCs receive them as the price of defeating or sealing the yoma. The yoma's heart remains in the object, and the PC feels a two-way temptation — using this power may make them resemble that yoma.

#6. Black Rope Chain (黒縄の鎖) [Divine Treasure]

A fragment of the black chain the Black Rope Mother sent forth from her breast. Cut it and it regrows; untie it and it winds back — originally meant to bind sinners. Now in the PC's hands.

  • Item Type: chain (wound at the waist, 3m length)
  • Discovery Location: Automatic drop when the Black Rope Mother is defeated (Act 4, Chapter 3).
  • Blessing [aptitude]: Chain Manipulation — For 1 Energy, extend the chain to attempt binding an adjacent target (Target Number 13 evasion). Maximum chain length 3m.
  • Curse [aptitude]: Self-Binding — The PC carrying the chain has a 1d10 chance (rolled at the start of each session) of "this chain won't come loose" — Defense -1 for that session (binding themselves).
TechniqueEnergyEffectLimit
[masterwork] Black Rope Binding (黒縄捕縛)32d10+Finesse+Unarmed Combat+2 >= Defense. Target is fully bound (cannot escape alone; squad assistance required). Lasts 3 rounds.1 time per round
[devotion] Mother's Last Words (母の遺言)6All enemy squads in the same zone are bound (Cohesion -3) + unable to act for 1 round. If a Lord-grade enemy is included, resistance check: 2d10+Courage >= 15.1 time per session

Devotion Condition: Hegemony or Demon. The decision: "One who was bound now becomes the one who binds."

Acquisition Narrative: The moment the Mother is defeated, one of her chains uncoils on its own and falls into one PC's hands. The choice is the PC's. Accept it, or discard it.

#7. Screaming Hell Gourd (叫喚瓢) [Divine Treasure]

What the Kyoukan Daiou handed to the PC when it returned to Form 3 — its true form. Inside is boiling water. Shake it — multiple voices can be heard from within the water.

  • Item Type: gourd (hung at the waist)
  • Discovery Location: Upon successful Negotiation with Kyoukan Daiou — success branch of Act 4, Chapter 3, "Knot of the Main Hall."
  • Blessing [aptitude]: Scream Immunity — Automatic resistance to "scream" attacks by Screaming Hell-type yoma. +3 to Mental Saves.
  • Curse [aptitude]: Boiling Water's Whisper — Carrying this gourd means that once per session, at the start of a scene, the PC hears "your old sorrows" again from the gourd. -1 to checks in the first round of that session.
TechniqueEnergyEffectLimit
[masterwork] Boiling Water Strike (煮湯一發)3Hurl boiling water from the gourd. 1 enemy in an adjacent zone takes 2 Wounds + "Spiritual Burn" (penalty of -2 to checks for 3 rounds).1 time per round
[devotion] Tarobee's Farewell Song (太郎兵衛の送歌)5Open the gourd and release the Daiou's voice. All yoma across the entire battlefield cannot act for 1 round. Has no effect on human enemies.1 time per session

Devotion Condition: Compassion or Void. The compassion: "Even amid boiling water — someone remembers a name."

Acquisition Narrative: The Daiou's true form — old fisherman Tarobee — hands the PC the gourd and says: "This is water I couldn't throw away to the end. Take it with you." The PC takes it and understands the weight.

#8. Shonetsu Seal (焦熱印章) [Divine Treasure]

Kitamiyama's ancient sealing stamp. The Great Dharma King shattered it 200 years ago. The shards were gathered and reassembled. Half retains its original form; half is broken. Press it — and the ancient seal briefly returns to that spot.

  • Item Type: seal (kept in the breast)
  • Discovery Location: Automatic drop when the Great Dharma King of Shonetsu is defeated at Stage 3 (Act 4, Chapter 4) / alternatively, awarded upon choosing the settlement faction ending branch.
  • Blessing [aptitude]: Seal Fragment — Natural reduction of domain Barrier HP reduced by -1/week (i.e., -3 → -2).
  • Curse [aptitude]: Incomplete Seal — The PC carrying this seal becomes the priority target for Shonetsu-type yoma (as one who would seal them).
TechniqueEnergyEffectLimit
[masterwork] Ash Seal (灰印章)3Attach 1 ancient seal mark in an adjacent zone. Shonetsu yoma in that zone cannot act for 1 round.1 time per round
[devotion] Great Dharma King's Final Decree (大法王の遺訓)7Sealing rite across the entire battlefield — all Shonetsu-type yoma cannot act for 1 round + Barrier HP +5. Limited to 3 times per campaign.3 times per campaign

Devotion Condition: Loyalty or Compassion. The belief: "A broken seal — can be rebound."

Acquisition Narrative: The moment the Great Dharma King is reduced to ash, the shards of the broken seal gather at the PC's feet from within the ashes. The PC picks them up and fits them together to complete a half-restored seal.

#9. Hellfire Fan (業火扇) [Divine Treasure]

The iron fan that a Hellfire Soldier swung. Open it and hellfire flows out. Closed — it looks like an ordinary fan. However, the hands of whoever holds it do not burn.

  • Weapon Type: weapon (fan — per core 07-01 Weapon Catalog tessen (鐵扇) standards)
  • Discovery Location: Mass Hellfire Soldier defeat event in Scorching Heat Hell — Act 3, Chapter 4, "Hellfire Road."
  • Blessing [aptitude]: Hellfire Immunity — Automatic resistance to hellfire attacks. Defense +2 against attacks by flame-type yoma.
  • Curse [aptitude]: Inherent Exorcism Reflection — Whenever the wielder of this fan becomes the target of an allied Exorcism technique, 50% of the damage reflects back. (PC only; not applicable to yoma attacks.)
TechniqueEnergyEffectLimit
[masterwork] Hellfire Fan Strike (業火一扇)32d10+Finesse+Unarmed Combat+2 >= Defense. 1 enemy in an adjacent zone takes 2 Wounds + Hellfire status. Special effect against Hellfire Soldier types — they are Confused (unable to act for 1 round).1 time per round
[devotion] Hellfire Flood (業火氾濫)7Apply "Hellfire Environment" across the entire battlefield for 3 rounds. Enemies take 1 Wound at the start of each round; allies are exempt via the fan's Blessing.2 times per campaign

Devotion Condition: Hegemony. The confidence: "I do not fear the flames."

Acquisition Narrative: As a Hellfire Soldier's armor melts away, a fan falls from one soldier's hand. The PC picks it up — the fan opens once and breathes hellfire. The PC's hands do not burn.

#Part 3: Negotiated Yoma Gifts 3

Common Background: Given directly to PCs by yoma whose Negotiation succeeded. Not loot — gifts. The yoma's heart remains in the object, watching over the PC. Betray the yoma's expectations — and the object falls silent.

#10. Undecaying Chieftain's Broken Spear (不朽の折槍) [masterwork]

The undecaying chieftain of Reviving Hell hands the PC his broken spear, together with his banner. "The oath I could not complete — I entrust it to you."

Masterwork RP: The one carrying this spear must declare an "oath" in the first round of battle (what do they fight to protect?). Without the declaration, spear techniques deal half effect for that round.

Acquisition Narrative: The chieftain lowers his broken spear with both hands and passes it to the PC, saying "I entrust it to your hands." In that moment — his soul lightens a little. He is briefly freed from the endless cycle of Reviving Hell.

Acquisition Narrative: The monk opens his eyes from meditation and looks at the PC's face briefly — then removes the prayer beads from his own neck and places them on the PC's neck. The weight of his sins does not transfer to the PC — instead, his path passes to the PC.

#Part 4: Sealing Stone Fragments 3

Common Background: Shards that fall each time the sealing stone collapses during the Mumyo battle in Chapter 5. Objects processed by Hoshino Gensho or Lord Akihisa of the domain, who attempted to restore the seal through practice. These 3 relics can only appear in the final 1/4 of the campaign. Special relics directly tied to Mumyo.

#13. Mumyo Prayer Beads (無明念珠) [Divine Treasure]

Prayer beads made from sealing stone shards. All beads are black stone. A very low vibration seeps from the beads. Hold them — and the PC's name becomes more vivid.

  • Discovery Location: After Mumyo P1 concludes in Act 3, Chapter 5 — Hoshino Gensho receives the shards and completes the crafting overnight.
  • Blessing [aptitude]: Avici Defense — "Infinite Pain" effect of Avici Hell environment reduced by 50% (healing efficiency restored). +5 to name loss resistance.

#14. Infinite Mirror (無限鏡) [Divine Treasure]

A small mirror made from sealing stone shards. The mirror surface reflects nothing. No image of oneself, no reflection of the surrounding scenery. Only — the heart of whoever looks is reflected.

  • Item Type: mirror (held in one hand)
  • Discovery Location: After Mumyo P1 concludes in Act 3, Chapter 5 — Lord Akihisa receives the shards and crafts it (his family's inherited technique).
  • Blessing [aptitude]: Heart Discernment — Whoever holds this mirror instantly discerns the Three Ways and Six Hearts axis of an opponent (Negotiation Target Number -2).
  • Curse [aptitude]: Infinite Stare — At the start of each session, on a d100 roll of 01–10, "one's own darkness" is reflected in the mirror and the PC cannot act for 1 round.

Devotion Condition: Truth or Void. The awareness: "I can see — into myself."

Crafting Narrative: Lord Akihisa receives the 3 shards that fall after Mumyo P1 is defeated and works them using his family's inherited spell "Chinka-kyo." His lifespan is not consumed, but afterward Akihisa's Romance Affinity growth rate -1 (because he offered his heart to the mirror).

#15. Key to the Nameless Door (無名の門の鍵) [Divine Treasure Special]

A key made from the largest shard of the sealing stone. Small but heavy. The door it can open — is only one. The nameless door of Avici. What purpose this key serves is understood automatically the moment it is held.

  • Item Type: key (kept in the breast)
  • Discovery Location: Immediately after Mumyo's final defeat in Act 4, Chapter 5 — at the moment the sealing stone collapses completely, one shard automatically transforms into the shape of a key.
  • Blessing [aptitude]: Door Authentication — The PC carrying this key automatically passes through all doors and gates in Chapter 5.
  • Curse [aptitude]: The Key's Fate — Whoever holds this key must decide the ending. At campaign conclusion, the PC carrying the key makes the final choice among the 3 ending branches (Restoration, Settlement, Transformation).
TechniqueEnergyEffectLimit
[masterwork] Open the Door (門を開く)0Open / close the Avici door or sealing stone of Chapter 5. Non-combat action.1 time per campaign

Devotion Condition: All hearts — this key requires no specific heart. The PC's true choice is the condition. Any heart activates it as long as the PC chooses sincerely.

Acquisition Narrative: At the moment Mumyo's final Wounds fall to 0, the entire sealing stone collapses. Among the pieces the PC sees the largest shard. That shard transforms in midair — on its own — into a small key. The key falls — on its own — into the hands of the PC whose heart is most firmly established.

Ending Effects: With this key the PC makes the final choice among three ending branches:

  • Restoration Ending: Close the sealing stone with the key → the domain returns to Japan.
  • Settlement Ending: Seal only part of the sealing stone's door with the key → the domain remains in the Spirit Realm but stabilizes.
  • Transformation Ending: Shatter or throw the key → the domain and the PCs become part of the Spirit Realm.

The key disappears after the ending. It cannot reappear in the next campaign.

#Relationship with Core Relics

These supplement relics do not replace core relics. They coexist.

  • PCs may freely carry core Divine Treasure · masterworks · Exotic Sacred Objects.
  • However, equipment slot limits must be observed (see 07-04 Principles). 1 weapon · 1 armor · 1 accessory · 1 sacred object/talisman.
  • Among these 15 supplement relics: 3 are weapons (Ash Sword, undecaying spear, Hellfire Fan), 1 is armor (Phantom Armor), 7 are accessories, and 4 are tools.

#Interactions Among These Supplement Relics

#GM Operating Guidelines

#Relic Award Timing

No premature awards: Giving all 15 relics to a 1st-dan PC collapses campaign balance. Principles:

  • Chapters 1–2: Up to 3–4 relics.
  • Chapters 3–4: 5–6 more relics (total 8–10).
  • Chapter 5: 3–4 more relics (total 12–15).

#Relic Loss — Possibilities

Cases where a PC may lose a relic.

  1. PC death: Relics carried by the deceased may be recovered by allies. If allies cannot recover them, they remain in the Spirit Realm.
  2. Stolen by yoma: Lord-grade or higher yoma that defeat a relic-carrying PC may steal certain relics.
  3. Voluntary offering: A PC offers a relic as ritual material (especially the Ash Sword, Mumyo Prayer Beads, etc. in Barrier rites).
  4. Campaign end: The nameless key disappears after the ending.

#Relic Distribution

Relic distribution among PCs is based on player consensus. The GM only mediates. If consensus fails, the GM distributes based on heart alignment and devotion condition fulfillment.

#Relic Discovery Event Table (d100, use 1–20)

For generating improvised relic discovery events. On a roll of 21–100, reroll (per core dice system).

18GM improvisation — a yoma trap near a relic.
19GM improvisation — a core instead of a relic (Lord-grade).
20GM improvisation — only a rumor of the relic — it is not actually there.

#Relic Prices and Market (reference)

Relics in this supplement are fundamentally non-tradeable. However, if the GM needs to assign a price in a special situation (e.g., a side-quest NPC requests a trade):

RelicEstimated PriceTradeable
Ash Sword150 gold△ (drifter relic dealers only)
Western Compass80 gold
Phantom Armor200 goldX (a general's relic; trade taboo)
Mumyo Temple Prayer Beads60 goldO (to sect monks)
Sealed Diary300 goldX (her family only)
Hell-native 4 relicsX (yoma objects; cannot trade outside domain)
Negotiation gift 3 relicsX (gifts; cannot be sold)
Sealing Stone Fragment 3 relicsX (sacred; absolutely no sale)

#Relic Collection Challenge (optional content)

If PCs wish to collect all relics in this supplement, GM permission is required. Special ending bonus for full collection:

  • 10 or more out of 15 collected: Renown +5; recorded in the ending description as "the one who carried the most objects from the Spirit Realm."
  • All 15 collected: Renown +10; regardless of ending, the PC is recorded in history as "Collector." In a follow-up campaign, that PC's descendant or apprentice can inherit 1–2 relics.

#Variant Relics (GM expansion)

Guidelines for GMs who wish to modify or add relics from this supplement.

#Variant Principles

  1. Symmetry of Blessing and Curse — every Blessing has a Curse, or every masterwork has a cost.
  2. Devotion condition is the heart — the challenge is inner, not physical.
  3. Narrative first, numbers second — define who the relic's former owner was first, then fit the stats to that.

#Core and Supplement Relic Combined Use Rules

  • PCs may simultaneously equip up to 4 slots (weapon/armor/accessory/sacred object-talisman).
  • If a supplement relic occupies the same slot as a core relic, it can be swapped — swapping during a round costs 1 Energy.
  • Relics with Curses that remain during a swap: Curses only activate while carried — they are automatically removed when swapped out.
  • Exception: the nameless key occupies no slot at all (kept in the breast).

Pattern A: Even Distribution (recommended)

  • 2–3 relics per PC. Distributed with heart alignment as the primary criterion.

Pattern B: Dedicated Collector

  • 1 PC manages most relics (suitable for scholar or Drifter Outsider).

Pattern C: Situational Distribution

  • Distribute to "the most fitting PC" based on the circumstances at discovery.

In all patterns, the key (No. 15) is automatically assigned based on the degree to which each PC's heart is established.

#Relic RP Handouts (for players)

Short descriptions to read aloud to players the moment each relic first arrives in their hands. The GM may adapt to the situation.

#01. Ash Sword — Handout

In the middle of the iron-colored plain, you see a half-rusted sword. Someone's name was once carved into the hilt — now erased, leaving only scratch marks. The moment you reach out to take hold of it, the blade faintly, ever so slightly, flares red. In one brief instant — you see the scene of the last thing that blade tried to cut down.

#02. Western Compass — Handout

The captain's cabin of a sunken ship. A compass rests on a water-filled desk. The needle does not point north — it points at you. Or rather, at something deep inside your chest. You take the compass in your hand, and you cannot tell whether the direction its needle points is "home" or "the next destination."

#03. Phantom Armor — Handout

Deep in the Black Rope Mother's nest — the form of a general seated, bound in chains. Yet when you draw close, the general is gone and only the armor remains. As you free the armor, you feel a faint warmth remaining on the inside. Wear it — and the sensation of someone placing a hand on your shoulder.

#04. Mumyo Temple Prayer Beads — Handout

A small cave at the entrance to Avici. An ancient stone statue sits unnamed. Prayer beads rest at the statue's feet. The moment you reach out, sutra chanting that sounds from nowhere echoes only inside your mind. Namu Amida Butsu, Namu Amida Butsu — repeating endlessly, yet never ending.

#05. Sealed Diary — Handout

The archive beneath Fushinsha. A book bound in black silk. The knot has sat untouched in 30 years of dust. Untie it — and at the end of the page appears a woman's handwriting. "Today too — the domain does not return. Tonight — I will decide." You do not yet know what that decision was.

#06. Black Rope Chain — Handout

The moment the Black Rope Mother falls, one chain fragment uncoils from her and drops at your feet, on its own. The chain is warm. You pick it up and wind it at your waist, and you know — you have now become one who binds.

#07. Screaming Hell Gourd — Handout

Kyoukan Daiou — old fisherman Tarobee — takes a small gourd from his breast and presses it into your hand. "This is water I couldn't throw away to the end. Take it. Sometimes — even with boiling water — you need to give someone an answer." A low song is heard from within the gourd.

#08. Shonetsu Seal — Handout

The moment the Great Dharma King is reduced to ash — small seal fragments glint within his ashes. You gather them and fit them together — a seal restored to only half its original form. The characters "Reirin" (再臨) are faintly visible. This seal is proof that someone once sealed this place — and proof that the seal was shattered.

#09. Hellfire Fan — Handout

As a Hellfire Soldier's armor melts away, a small fan falls from one soldier's hand. You hesitate, then pick it up. It looks like an ordinary fan. But the moment you open it — hellfire flows out. And your hands — do not burn.

#10. Undecaying Chieftain's Broken Spear — Handout

The chieftain briefly lowers his banner and takes half of his broken spear from his breast. He holds it out to you with both hands and says: "I entrust it to your hands. I could not keep my oath to the end with this spear. Your oath — take it all the way."

#11. Black Rope Monk's Necklace — Handout

The monk opens his eyes from meditation. He looks at your face for a moment — then removes the prayer beads from his own neck and places them around yours. "This necklace was the proof of my sins. And it was the condition of my freedom. Your shoulders — are still light. Even so, take it."

#12. Kasakura's Lantern — Handout

Kasakura carefully lifts his ship's lantern and sets it in your hand. "This lantern — I cannot light alone. My name is still with me, but my hands — can no longer touch flame. Someday — you will light it for me."

#13. Mumyo Prayer Beads — Handout

After a night of fasting and prayer, Elder Gensho makes prayer beads from seven sealing stone shards. He hands them to you — his hands trembling. "These beads are not only for protecting a name. They are for — choosing a name. From now on, you can choose your own name."

#14. Infinite Mirror — Handout

Lord Akihisa uses his family's inherited spell to work 3 sealing stone shards into a small mirror. He hands it to you with a brief smile. "This mirror does not reflect me. It reflects your heart. If you are one who can look directly at your own heart — this mirror is yours."

#15. Key to the Nameless Door — Handout

The moment Mumyo's final Wounds fall to 0 — the entire sealing stone collapses. You see the largest shard among the pieces. That shard transforms in midair — on its own — into a small key. The key falls — on its own — into your hand. You already know what you will do with this key. And that — is your choice.

"A relic is the words of one who could not return. Whoever takes it up must finish those words."

— Hermit Onmyoji Hoshino Gensho, from the first page of the relic inventory
