#Swordsmanship School Expansion (劍術流派 擴張) — Section Index
Contents
#Identity
In addition to the core 4 Swordsmanship schools (Katori, Yagyu, Ito, Jigen) and the 1st-expansion hell Swordsmanship schools, this adds Swordsmanship schools from all over the world and across all eras on a large scale. It incorporates the representative sword arts of every culture that has the sword into the Konsei Reiyotan framework.
Swordsmanship is the first proving ground where this expansion shows school diversity. It encompasses Japan (Tennen Rishin, Hokushin Itto, Jikishin Kage), Joseon (Joseon Sebeop, Bonguk Geom), China (Shaolin Sword, Wudang Sword, Tang Dao), and the West (Liechtenauer, Fiore, Destreza), all together.
#Design Goals
- At least 10, at most 15 new Swordsmanship schools.
- A mix of school types:
- famous schools 4~6 (Hokushin Itto, Tennen Rishin, Shaolin Sword, etc.)
- Secret Transmission 1~2 (Jikishin Kage, secret sword lineages)
- Self-Taught Style 1~2 (self-taught swordsmen, ronin self-taught styles)
- foreign styles 3~5 (Joseon Sebeop, Liechtenauer, Fiore, Destreza, Tang Dao)
- Technique sharing allowed: multiple schools may share basic techniques such as "drawing strike" with no problem. Differentiation comes from philosophy, Approach conditions, higher techniques.
- Play-type diversification: instant-kill type, combo type, defensive type, mobile type, group-combat type, duel type, etc.
- Provides a direct match-up table against the 1st-expansion hell Swordsmanship schools (22-hell-schools) (GM ruling aid).

#§ Scent — The Swordsman Who Came From the Future
A crossroads in a basin village. Sakai the samurai was a man who, being old, had seen countless swords. At that crossroads, he saw a sword he had never seen before.
It was a youth. Seemingly just past coming-of-age, the way he held the sword was a form never taught in his own dojo. Knees slightly bent, shoulder set at an angle, the blade-tip pointing not at the enemy but beside his own foot. How does one cut from that stance? Sakai could not tell.
The youth gave a greeting. Sakai asked his name.
"Okita Soji (沖田 総司)."
"A house I've never heard of. Which school?"
The youth hesitated a moment, then said. "Tennen Rishin-ryu (天然理心流). You wouldn't know it, sir — it is a school that does not yet exist. I was ... fated to be born a little too late."
At first Sakai took him for a madman. But when the youth cut once, Sakai saw a precision he had never seen in his whole life.
A sword from a hundred years later had come to a crossroads a hundred years earlier. That is Hyakka Yoran. The way of a single blade splits into a hundred branches — and all hundred branches gather in one era.
"The sword does not cross nations. Only the swordsman crosses."
