#Custom Content Guide

Contents

#§ Situation

A comprehensive guide for when the GM directly creates their own campaign-specific schools·masterworks·backgrounds·squads, etc. Linked with 21-05·25-10.

#§ Custom Areas

#1. Custom School (21-05)

For details, see 21-05 Custom School Guide. An 8-step procedure.

Core:

  • Core basic maneuver ±1 intensity
  • Select 1 of 4 types (famous·esoteric·self·foreign)
  • Changing the core skills themselves is forbidden
  • Encroaching on dedicated skill domains is forbidden (via a Training Method)

#2. Custom Masterwork (40-03 format)

Follow the core Masterwork Arsenal format:

  • Based on a basic weapon (07-01)
  • 1~2 unique techniques
  • Specify the price or that it is not for sale
  • Blessing·Curse if possible

Custom Procedure:

  1. Decide the basic weapon (sword·spear·bow, etc.)
  2. The masterwork's Scent (1~2 paragraphs of history)
  3. Design 1~2 techniques (Energy·check·effect)
  4. Decide the price (core same-grade masterwork ±20%)
  5. Specify the source NPC·dojo·family

#3. Custom Background (04-01 format)

Core Backgrounds format:

  • Background name·1~2 paragraphs of explanation
  • Background effect (attribute +1·skill +1·assets, etc.)
  • Background NPC relationships (family·master·rival)
  • Background assets (starting assets·relic·companion)

#4. Custom Squad (25-10)

For details, see 25-10 Custom Squad Template. A 6-step procedure.

#5. Custom Divine Treasures·Items

Divine Treasures and items follow the core masterwork·Divine Treasure·equipment formats and this expansion's props format.

Reference Criteria:

Authoring Criteria:

  1. First settle the existing equipment slot and use-timing.
  2. Keep the effect within the intensity of core same-grade equipment or ex2 props.
  3. For strong effects, attach an access-condition, Curse, reputation cost, consumability, and scenario hook rather than a price.
  4. Treat Divine-Treasure-grade items not as "strong equipment" but as a central object of the story.

#6. Custom Scenario (50 scenario pattern)

Refer to this expansion's 50-tournament 5-piece pattern or the 1st expansion's 8-file pattern:

  • overview·act 1~4·NPCs·bestiary·rewards
  • 3~5-session short piece

#§ Custom Checklist

  • [ ] Core-rule consistency (round·Energy·check formula)
  • [ ] No conflict with this expansion or 1st-expansion materials
  • [ ] Clear usefulness from the PC's perspective
  • [ ] Balance (core ±1 or ±20%)
  • [ ] Clear source·access-condition
  • [ ] Prior agreement with PCs (when making a permanent change)

#§ Anti-Patterns

  • The custom content is stronger than the core: destroys campaign balance.
  • The custom content ignores core rules: PC confusion.
  • Too much custom content: a burden on both GM·PC. We recommend 5~10 items per campaign.

"The GM is the god of their own world. But a good god acts in accordance with the rules of their own world."
