The names of famed blades of a thousand years ago are all forgotten. Yet the shadow of those names remains. A small tanto, a broken bow, a worn bead — too lacking to become a relic, yet too deep a story to see as a mere tool.

#§ Usage Conventions

  • Promotion to masterwork or Divine Treasure: every Quasi-Relic is promoted at GM discretion upon meeting a narrative trigger. On promotion, it converts to a masterwork (40-03) or Foreign Divine Treasure (45-foreign-relics) grade.
  • Ordinary use: when the trigger is unmet, used at 80% effect of an ordinary masterwork. Weak.
  • Loss risk: not for sale — when lost, recovery is difficult. The GM can have it reappear through campaign narrative.
  • Multiple holding: one PC can hold multiple Quasi-Relics. Each its own separate narrative.

#§ Design Perspective

  • Distribution of the 10 Quasi-Relics: weapons 5 / non-weapons 5.
  • Emphasis on narrative triggers: all are promoted by "some action·event." Not a simple reward but a dynamic item linked to campaign progression.
  • Foreign clues: 40-05-05·09 are Foreign Divine Treasure (45) clues — used when the campaign progresses in a foreign direction.
  • Emphasis on GM discretion: this section has a strong GM-tool character. Used both as a PC reward + a narrative hook.

"A relic's name is forgotten for a thousand years. Yet the relic itself still exists — only there is no one left who remembers its name."
