#Exotic Weapons and Hidden Arms — Outlander Arms
Contents

Scope declaration / Opt-in. This issue is a supplement that continues the weapon catalog of
co-07. Weapons the canon already covers (katana, yari, bow, kunai, shuriken, fists, staves, improvised weapons) are not reprinted; only the exotic weapon and hidden arms (concealed implements) types not covered by co-07 are added. Every entry is a Variant underco-99-01— used only when a table adopts it.This issue defines only the basic grade. Masterwork and Divine Treasure grades are crafted by the GM (the
co-07-02 masterworkformat). A kusarigama whose chain has been fed a spirit, a shikomizue that holds its own poison — such a single piece is for the story of that table to forge.
#Brief — Weapons Outside the Orthodox Path
Battlefield weapons have rank. Katana and yari and bow — the orthodox arms a warrior house proudly bears. But where the blade does not reach, where the blade cannot be worn, in work the blade cannot do — there were other weapons.
The kusarigama that rules distance with its chain. The tessen disguised as a fan. The shikomizue hidden in a cane. A needle held in the mouth, caltrops scattered ahead, a barb concealed under the fingernail. These were not the pride of warrior houses but the tools of shinobi, ronin, and spies, and so they were called "outlander arms" and despised. Yet the more despised a weapon is — the more it saves a person at a dead end.
This issue carries those weapons in two divisions.
- Drawn-up exotic weapons — chain, composite, concealed arms. (
01) - Hidden arms (concealed implements) — fine arms that are hidden, scattered, and held. (
02) - How to grip them — per-weapon use-skill mapping, concealment and detection, social risk, masterwork crafting. (
03)

#Production Notice
This issue is No. 4 of the Konsei Reiyotan zn (one-shot) series. The forms and uses of the weapons are based on real weapons of Sengoku-to-early-modern Japan (including variants (opt-in) that draw into this table's setting items whose form was established in the Edo period, such as the manrikigusari and shikomizue), but the game numbers and Spirit Realm contact points are fiction of this setting. All numbers were designed atop the check formulas, tags, and grade system of the canon co-07, and were limited so as not to duplicate weapons the canon has already included.
#AI Use Notice
A substantial part of this material was produced with the help of generative AI (LLM) in planning, drafting, sentence polishing, and proofreading. The GPT Image 2 model was used in the image generation process. Claude Code and Codex were used for the Japanese and English translations. Final editing and the responsibility for publication rest with the producer.
Should there be changes in domestic or foreign law regarding AI-assisted works, those laws shall be followed.
#Scent — One Sentence
"The upright blade is the pride of a warrior house — but what saves a person in a dead-end alley is a single barb up the sleeve."
