#Exotic Arms — Weapons of Chain and Disguise
This document belongs to the front. Check formulas and tags follow canon
co-07. Each weapon is basic grade; masterwork-and-up are crafted by the GM as in03 Note.
How to read: the use-skill is one of the 30 common skills (co-04-09-01) added to that weapon's check. E.g., if the use-skill is Ninjutsu, the attack check is 2d10 + the relevant attribute (Finesse, Might, Physique, etc.) + Ninjutsu.
#Data — Catalog
#Kusarigama (鎖鎌) — Chain-Sickle
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Class | chain composite (reach weapon) |
| Use-Skill | Ninjutsu (or a Swordsmanship variant, GM's discretion) |
| Range | same to adjacent zone |
| Price | 1.5 gold |
A weapon joining a sickle (鎌) and a weight (分銅) with a long chain. The chain governs distance; the sickle finishes. Fearsome in open ground.
| Technique | Type | Energy | Check | Effect | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chain Snare (鎖搦め) | Attack B (Finesse) | 2 | 2d10+Finesse+Ninjutsu vs enemy 2d10+Physique | No damage. binding — restricts the target's relocation and weapon use for 1 round (disabled on the target's Physique check of 11 or higher) | — |
| Sickle Cut (鎌斬り) | Attack A (Might) | 2 | 2d10+Might+Ninjutsu >= Defense | 1 Wounds. +1 Wounds against a bound enemy (=2 Wounds) | — |
The two-beat of binding with the chain and cutting with the sickle is its forte. In the cramped [Core Zone] the chain cannot be swung, putting it at a disadvantage.

| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Class | chain (non-lethal subdual) |
| Use-Skill | Ninjutsu or Unarmed Combat |
| Range | same to adjacent zone |

A fan reinforced with iron ribs. In ordinary times it is a real fan. Its value lies not in power but in passing openly into places where weapons cannot be worn (tea gathering, audience hall, checkpoint).

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fan Strike (扇打ち) | Attack A (Finesse) | 1 | 2d10+Finesse+Unarmed Combat >= Defense | 1 Wounds | — |

| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Class | concealed blade |
| Use-Skill | Swordsmanship |
| Range | same zone |
| Price | 2 gold |
A weapon hiding a blade inside a cane. In ordinary times it is a complete cane, so it is discovered only through a Perception contest (03). The moment of the draw is itself the Surprise Attack. (The form was established in a later age — see the opt-in declaration in the front.)
| Technique | Type | Energy | Check | Effect | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Quick-Draw Strike (抜き打ち) | Attack A (Might) | 2 | 2d10+Might+Swordsmanship >= Defense | 1 Wounds. The first blow before the true nature is discovered gets +1 Wounds | The first-blow bonus is 1 time, before discovery |

#Heavy Bludgeons — Cited from Canon (Not Restated)
Heavy bludgeons of the nailed iron-rod type are already covered by canon. Since this issue does not restate staff-type arms (including heavy bludgeons such as the tetsubo and kanabo; front scope declaration), they are deferred below.
| Weapon | Where | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tetsubo (鐵棒) | co-07-01 | Basic-grade iron staff. Crushing [Pierce 1] + [Break] |
| Kanabo (金棒) — "the oni's club" | co-07-02 | Masterwork grade. Oni-strength technique · "the oni's wrath" Curse |
"An oni with a kanabo (鬼に金棒)" — that saying about the strong growing stronger came from this weapon. That single one already stands as a canon masterwork.
This is as far as the open weapons go. The hidden weapons are in the next chapter. →
