No Scouting-skill schools exist in the core. This expansion newly establishes 4 kinds. Each newly establishes a maneuver that replaces the core's Licensed Sweep the Battle Situation / secret art Battlefield View.

#17-01-01. Night Scouting (夜間偵察) — Self-Taught Style · origin-independent

A Self-Taught Style of nighttime-movement and ambush scouting. No dojo. Military scouts, bandits, and ninjutsu practitioners all learn it.

  • Addition: night vision — Perception +3 at night and in darkness.
  • Constraint: no daytime bonus.
  • Licensed: [stance] Night-Eye Stance: Energy 1. During the stance, night Perception +3, sound discrimination +2.
  • Secret art: [Kata] Night Ambush Detection: Energy 3. 1 session. Automatically identifies ambushes within a 1-ri (about 400m) radius at night.
  • Approach: Self-Taught Style. 5+ sessions of night marching recommended. Play type: night scouting.

#17-01-02. Forest Scouting (森林偵察) — Secret Transmission · northern·mountain

A secret transmission of northern forests and deep mountains. Passed down orally in mountain hunter families. Estimates enemy positions from traces, footprints, and animal behavior.

  • Addition: forest traces — Tracking check +3, ambush Perception +2 in forests.
  • Constraint: plains·city -1.
  • Licensed: [aptitude] Forest Traces: Tracking +3, animal-behavior Perception +2 in forests.
  • Secret art: [Kata] Forest Position Estimation: Energy 3. 1 session. Estimates enemy position, numbers, and equipment within a forest 5-ri (about 2km) radius.
  • Approach: secret-transmission tutelage — adoption into a mountain hunter family, 5+ sessions of residence. Play type: forest tracking.

#17-01-03. Desert Scouting (沙漠偵察) — Foreign Style · Arab·Central Asia

Cultural origin: scouting of desert nomads. Analysis of sand traces, wind, and mirages. Position estimated by the constellations.

  • Addition: desert Adaptation — Scouting·Tracking +3 in deserts, immune to mirages.
  • Constraint: cold zone·wetland -2.
  • Licensed: [aptitude] Desert Eye: Scouting +3 in deserts, automatically identifies traces on sand.
  • Secret art: [Kata] Desert Marching Scouting: Energy 4. 1 session. Accurately estimates enemy position and movement direction within a desert 10-ri (about 4km) radius.
  • Approach: Arab·Central Asian origin, foreign Adaptation (Arab·nomadic). Play type: desert scouting·outland marching.

#17-01-04. Urban Scouting (市街地偵察) — Famous School · Japan·Joseon·Ming·West

Scouting of cities, markets, and alleys. Spies, urban vigilante groups, and officials all learn it. Analyzes people's expressions, rumors, and movements.

  • Addition: social clues — intelligence-network·Perception check +2 in cities·markets, automatically obtain 1 rumor, 1 per session.
  • Constraint: wilderness·mountain -1.
  • Licensed: [aptitude] Urban Eye: intelligence network +3 in cities·markets, automatically obtain rumors.
  • Secret art: [Kata] Street Scouting: Energy 3. 1 session. Comprehensively estimates enemy position, movement, and relationship network in 1 urban zone (about 1km²).
  • Approach: tutelage under urban vigilante groups·officials·spies. Common across cultures (variants per city). Play type: urban intelligence·politics.

  • Environmental specialization: night·forest·desert·city — each school a different stage.
