#Disable Schools Collection, 4 Kinds (first establishment)

No Disable-skill schools exist in the core. This expansion newly establishes 4 kinds. It replaces the core's newly established maneuvers for the Licensed Precision Disassembly / secret art Barrier Collapse.

Setting up Barriers is the domain of 19-04 Barrier schools. This section treats Barrier removal only (the two domains are clearly distinguished).

§ Check Procedure: lock/trap disabling = core 03-09 non-combat Target Number 11-17 (difficulty) + 04-01 Disable skill, applied. Simple lock Target Number 11 / precision lock Target Number 13 / trap identification Target Number 13 / trap disabling Target Number 15-17 / Barrier seal GM discretion (for Wounds units see 00-05 §11). This expansion adds no new Target Number table. Mapping: 00-05 §14.

Locks·traps·seals are all made by a single person. If you can read that person's touch, you can also undo it. Disabling is a silent dialogue with the one who made it.

#17-05-01. Lock Orthodoxy (錠前 正統) — Self-Taught Style · thieves·ninjutsu practitioners

A Self-Taught Style of lock disabling. Thieves, ninjutsu practitioners, and vigilante groups all learn it. Specialized in simple mechanical locks.

  • Addition: lock aptitude — common-lock disabling check +3·precision lock +1.
  • Constraint: magic (魔) lock -2.
  • Licensed: [aptitude] Lock Intuition: lock disabling +3·automatically disables a common lock within 30 seconds.
  • Secret art: [Kata] Precision Disabling: Energy 3. 1 session. Can disable 1 precision·complex lock (palace·vault grade).
  • Approach: Self-Taught Style or tutelage under thieves·ninjutsu practitioners. Play type: thief·assassin.

#17-05-02. Trap Orthodoxy (罠 正統) — Secret Transmission · scouts·thieves

A Secret Transmission of trap identification·disabling. Secret transmission of mountain thieves·battlefield scouts·ninjutsu practitioners. Specialized in mechanical·chemical·pressure traps.

  • Addition: trap aptitude — trap identification check +3·disabling +2.
  • Constraint: magic (魔) trap -2.
  • Licensed: [stance] Trap Stance: Energy 1. During the stance, trap identification +3·can disable automatically (simple ones).
  • Secret art: [Kata] Trap Precision Disabling: Energy 4. 1 session. Safely disable 1 complex trap (double·triple trigger).
  • Approach: secret-transmission tutelage — adoption into a scout·thief family. Play type: scouting·thief.

#17-05-03. Sorcery Seal Removal (呪術 封印 解除) — Secret Transmission · onmyoji·Daoist

A Secret Transmission of Sorcery seal removal. Tutelage under onmyoji·Chinese Daoists·Arab Kabbalah scholars. Removes talismans·Barriers·seals all alike.

  • Addition: Sorcery seal aptitude — Sorcery seal removal +3·Barrier Collapse +2.
  • Constraint: no bonus for common locks·traps.
  • Licensed: [aptitude] Sorcery Intuition: Sorcery seal removal +3·automatically identifies talismans.
  • Secret art: [Kata] Barrier Collapse (enhanced): Energy 5. 1 session. Removes 1 Barrier (Wounds 3 or below, or a 1st-expansion Domain Barrier with Barrier HP 15 or below) + frees 1 Incorporeal within the seal.
  • Approach: onmyoji class or tutelage under Daoists·Kabbalah scholars. Play type: Sorcery removal·freeing the Incorporeal.
  • Related: 19-04 Barrier schools (opposition — setter vs remover) / 1st-expansion 01-02 Barrier system.

#17-05-04. Spirit Realm Seal Removal (靈界 封印 解除) — Foreign Style · 1st-expansion compatible

Cultural origin: removal of Spirit Realm (靈界) seals. 1st-expansion Drift of the Spirit Realm PCs, or onmyoji secret transmission. Acts on Spirit Realm environment seals (wells·stone steles·sacred ground, etc.).

  • Addition: Spirit Realm seal aptitude — Spirit Realm seal removal +3·Spirit Realm environment Adaptation +1.
  • Constraint: Spirit Realm entry presupposed. Current-world seal -2.
  • Licensed: [aptitude] Spirit Realm Seal Intuition: seal removal in the Spirit Realm +3·automatic seal identification in 1 session.
  • Secret art: [Kata] Undoing a Spirit Realm Barrier: Energy 5. 1 session. Removes 1 Spirit Realm Barrier + frees a sealed Incorporeal + branches a 1st-expansion campaign.
  • Approach: 1st-expansion Spirit Realm campaign PC + onmyoji or Spirit Realm Adaptation (17-02-04) recommended. Play type: Spirit Realm campaign.
  • Related: 1st-expansion Drift of the Spirit Realm — compatible with Spirit Realm seal rules.

  • Barrier setting vs removal: 19-04 sets up, this section removes. The two domains can be in opposition.
  • 1st-expansion compatibility: 17-05-04 Spirit Realm seals are directly compatible with 1st-expansion campaigns.
