#Morale-Check Replacement
Contents
module-toggle: replaces core squad morale check. Compatible with 1st-expansion 01-06.
#Identity
Replaces the core squad morale check (a flight check when 1/2 of squad members die) with squad-type · individual-type.
#§ Variant A: Squad-Type Morale (Large-Scale Combat)
Procedure:
- Squad-unit morale 0~10 (starting at 5).
- Morale -1 when 1 squad member dies · -1 when a friendly squad dies · -3 when the squad leader dies.
- +1 when 1 squad member lands a Critical Hit · +1 when a friendly squad joins · +2 right after a victory.
- Flight on reaching morale 0.
- Frenzied charge on reaching morale 10 (Wounds +2 · Defense -2, 1 combat).
Effect:
- Morale is a dynamic resource. It fluctuates every round.
- It shows its true value in large-scale squad combat.
- Naturally compatible with 1st-expansion domain campaigns.
#§ Variant B: Individual-Type Morale (Individual Psychodrama)
Procedure:
- Each PC + major NPC has individual morale 0~5 (starting at 3).
- Morale -1 on a companion's death · serious injury · -2 on a trusted NPC's betrayal.
- +1 on victory · restoration of friendship.
- On reaching morale 0, the PC gains a 1-session madness · depression effect (GM discretion).
- On reaching morale 5, a heroic-strike effect (1 combat, 1 time, Energy -2 + attack +5).
Effect:
- Tracks the individual PC's psychology. Emphasizes narrative depth.
- Squad-unit effects are weakened — suited to 1 vs 1 or small-scale PC campaigns.
#§ Core vs Replacement Comparison
| Axis | Core | A squad-type | B individual-type |
|---|---|---|---|
| tracking unit | squad | squad (dynamic) | individual PC |
| fluctuation frequency | 1 combat 1 time | every round | every event |
| suited campaign | standard | large-scale combat | psychological drama |
| 1st-expansion domain compatibility | partial | full | partial |
#§ Recommended Situations
- A squad-type: 1st-expansion domain · large-scale combat · war campaigns
- B individual-type: small-scale PC · psychological drama · narrative-centered
#§ Not Recommended
- A: 1 vs 1 duels (squad-unit effects absent)
- B: large-scale combat (PC tracking is dispersed)
#§ Transition Guide
- Core → A: directly adopt the 1st-expansion morale system. A morale sheet per squad.
- Core → B: an individual PC morale sheet. Adopt at campaign start.
- A · B → Core: abolish morale tracking. Immediate return.
