English edition v1.3.3

#4 Cthulhu-Series Conversions (optional)

An optional module for horror campaigns. The madness/trauma accumulation system (30-10 grimdark) is recommended. Adds a horror tone to the core + 1st-expansion Spirit Realm campaign.

Some Lovecraft works are public domain, but media origins with alterations use altered names.

Core-compatible: follows the 08-02 yoma bestiary template standard stat-block format.

This-expansion-compatible: follows 00-05 §3 (Wounds recovery/Energy aid) · §7 (cap of 2 per round) · §12 (madness policy — depends on 30-10).

#55-12-04. Shining Trapezohedron (Shining Trapezohedron) — divine artifact/item (altered)

A faceted crystalline polyhedron on plain cloth, faint radiating lines from its core, a small metal stand

Scent: a polyhedral gem that communicates with malign outer spirits. It is not a yoma but a dangerous numinous object found in a core world horror scenario. Once it shines, something from beyond the cosmos looks back at its user — and in exchange, madness is permanently carved into the soul.

Divine artifact/item (tool). Not a yoma but a hazard-reward item — close to the concept of the core 07 weapons, but depends on 30-10 grimdark for its madness-accumulation mechanic.

Base: tool (gem)

Techniques (bound to the item):

TechniqueTypeEnergyCheckEffectLimit
Outer Communication (外界通信)Kata5— (auto)Activate all 35 spell/19 mysticism abilities on the user PC for 1 combat only. However, after use, madness +2 (permanent) (when 30-10 grimdark is used, madness accumulates permanently / when unused, GM discretion per 00-05 §12 — no mechanical effect).1 session 1 time

Special:

  • Curse [Aptitude]: madness is permanently added on accumulated use. On 5 accumulated uses, the PC permanently transforms into a Fiend (character retirement — only in 30-10-using campaigns. When unused, a GM-discretion narrative transformation).
  • Approach: a horror-scenario reward (the danger is very high). An ordinary PC must not use it carelessly.
  • Weakness — holy seal: inside a holy Barrier, the effect is nullified + the curse is temporarily suspended.
  • IP: altered (Lovecraft + alteration).

A polyhedral gem that communicates with malign outer spirits. Once it shines — something in the cosmos sees you.

#§ Horror Campaign Recommendations

  • Introduce 30-10 grimdark (trauma/madness accumulation mechanics). All madness/nightmare effects in this § presuppose the use of 30-10 — when unused, GM-discretion narration handling per 00-05 §12 (no mechanical effect).
  • 30-02 variant A critical-injury table (reinforces the traumatic horror tone).
  • Can be combined with the 1st-expansion Spirit Realm drift chronicle (Spirit Realm + Cthulhu = cosmic horror).
  • PC consent is essential — a horror tone is not liked by all PCs.

"The cosmos was not made for humanity. Humans are merely a small accident within it." — the thought of horror campaigns
