#Transcend Techniques — Those That Open the Ceiling
Contents
This document belongs to the front. All techniques below are Variants premised on Epic Mode (GM approval), and are taken with a class/general technique slot (an odd dan or a general technique slot,
01). That is, Transcendence is not free — you buy it at the opportunity cost of a technique slot. These techniques grant no new Divine Authority. They merely push the ceiling of attributes, skills, and resources up by +1 each (
02). The goal is not flash but endurance.
#Data — Transcend Technique Catalog
#A. Attribute Transcend
| Technique | Type | Effect | Repeat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Transcend: Might (超越・勇) | [Aptitude] | Might (勇) attribute cap +1 (canon +3 → +4 → …) | ○ |
| Transcend: Finesse (超越・技) | [Aptitude] | Finesse (技) cap +1 (the derived Energy maximum rises as well) | ○ |
| Transcend: Physique (超越・體) | [Aptitude] | Physique (體) cap +1 (the derived Wounds rise as well) | ○ |
| Transcend: Wits (超越・智) | [Aptitude] | Wits (智) cap +1 | ○ |
| Transcend: Grace (超越・美) | [Aptitude] | Grace (美) cap +1 (the derived Domination aura rises as well) | ○ |
| Transcend: Fate (超越・運) | [Aptitude] | Fate (運) cap +1 (the derived Fate Intervention rises as well) | ○ |
Only the cap opens. The actual value is filled by the even-dan attribute +1 (
01). Take the same attribute repeatedly and the ceiling keeps rising to +5, +6, and on.
#B. Skill/Mastery Transcend
| Technique | Type | Effect | Repeat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Transcend Mastery (超越熟練) | [Aptitude] | Lifts 1 Saint (=treated as +4) skill to Transcend 1 (+5). On repeat, Transcend 2 (+6)… (02) | ○ |
| Sanctum Transcendence (聖域超越) | [Aptitude] | Adds 1 more Saint-eligible skill (Disables the canon "Saint = dan 10 only") | ○ |
| Master Domain Transcendence (名人領域超越) | [Aptitude] | Allows Master on 1 skill outside the class-designated 6 skills | ○ |
| Proficiency Cap Transcendence (熟練限度超越) | [Aptitude] | The held-count cap for Licensed-or-above (Licensed, Master, Saint) +1 | ○ |
The Saint that "Sanctum Transcendence" opens is only the proficiency-tier Saint. That is, it unlocks only the 5th stage (auto-success/+4) of
co-04-09-00. The skill saint Renown Title ofco-04-05(mythic effects such as Kensei, Divine Bow) is gained only through a separate Renown Title slot, and cannot be obtained through "Sanctum Transcendence."
#C. Resources (Wounds, Energy, Fate) Do Not Create New Techniques
Resource growth such as Wounds, Energy, and Fate Intervention creates no separate Transcend technique. A canon general technique already does that job at +1 each — "Tough (剛忍, Wounds +1)," "Swift (迅速, Energy maximum +1)," "Lucky One (幸運兒, Fate Intervention +1)" (co-04-02). Canon allows these to be repeated at most 2 times. Epic Mode, via Restriction Removal 5 of 01, lifts that 2-time cap, so the same technique can be taken repeatedly to grow a resource by +1 incrementally.
That is, no new Transcend technique is needed for resource expansion. Repeating the existing +1 general techniques is enough, and that aligns with the +1 accumulation of attribute/skill Transcend as well (one slot = +1).
#D. Renown Transcend
| Technique | Type | Effect | Repeat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Renown Returned (威名再臨) | [Aptitude] | Opens a second Renown Title technique slot. But limited to the demoted form of the Renown Title in 01 | ✕ (1 time) |
#Table — Acquisition at a Glance
| What You Grow | Technique | Ceiling Effect |
|---|---|---|
| One attribute axis | Transcend: <attribute> | +3 → +4 → +5 → … |
| One Saint skill | Transcend Mastery | +4 → +5 → … |
| Saint eligibility | Sanctum Transcendence | dan 10 only Disabled |
| Master eligibility | Master Domain Transcendence | unlocks outside the class 6 skills |
| Licensed+ slot count | Proficiency Cap Transcendence | count cap +1 |
| Action resources (Wounds, Energy, Fate) | Repeating canon "Tough," "Swift," "Lucky One" | +1 each (Restriction 5 lifts the 2-time cap — no new technique) |
| A second Renown Title | Renown Returned | adds 1 demoted-form Renown Title |
#Note — A Short Guide for the GM
1. The enemy grows alongside. Once a PC reaches attribute +5 and skill +6, scenes no longer hold together with the canon target numbers (the odd ladder …15/17/19) and enemy Defense. The GM raises enemy Defense, target number, and Wounds by the same margin (+4 or more for weekly-grade and boss enemies is already allowed by canon co-03-02). Epic Mode is about raising the scale of the entire stage, not only the PCs.
2. The slot is the choice. A Transcend technique eats a class/general technique seat. You cannot open every ceiling — what you Transcend and what you give up builds the character past dan 11. This opportunity cost is the only "balance" that remains.
3. Turning it off is a rule too. Epic Mode is a campaign-level switch. Once turned on, it is hard to undo. Before turning it on, it is recommended that the whole table read the canon co-04-05 GM warning together.
#Scent — One Sentence
"Each time you open one notch of the ceiling, the sky pulls a handspan farther away — and yet here is a ladder, for those who would climb anyway."
