#Baekgwi Jeonseunggi (百鬼傳承記) - Yoma Compendium

Contents

Chronicle of a Hundred Yokai cover

Data Catalog + Campaign Module + Reference Only. This volume does not replace the co Yoma Bestiary. It interprets existing yoma more deeply and supports era-based variants, enhancement backgrounds, companion-making, and yoma PC operation.

Core boundary: A yoma PC is not a substitute for the hanyo. A hanyo is a human between two bloods, while a yoma PC is an apparition that has entered human society.

#Opening Vignette - The Road the Hundred Demons Passed

On the third night after the battle ended, no lantern had yet been lit on the road beneath the ruined castle.

The monk trod the mud barefoot. The paddies by the road were dry, and broken spear shafts were stuck into the ridges. He tied a small piece of paper to each of those shafts. For those whose names he knew, the name; for those whose names he did not know, he wrote "So-and-so."

As midnight drew near, the sound of drums came from the direction of the mountain. At first it was far. Next it was near. At last it sounded underfoot.

A black procession crossed the road. A burly man with horns growing from his head, a woman whose neck had stretched long, a fox wearing a smiling mask, blue fire blazing within a broken suit of armor, a child wearing a water-soaked sedge hat. They did not resemble one another, yet they walked the same road. No one spoke.

The monk gripped his prayer beads and asked.

"Where are you going?"

At the tail of the procession, a small demon bearing an old drum turned to look back.

"To the place where people gave us our names."

When those words ended, a wind blew. The names written on the papers swayed all at once. Only then did the monk understand. It was not only the names of the dead that remained on the road. A name was given to each thing that people feared, and to each thing that received a name, a road by night was given.

From that night on, that road was called the road of the hundred demons.

#Scent - The Book of the Hundred Demons

This book does not treat yoma as a mere list. Yoma come alive within names, places, rumors, the Gate of the Spirit Realm, and the responses of human factions. Even the same oni, if on a battlefield, feeds on the spirits of armies; if at a mountain gate, tests taboos; if within a kaidan, returns as a name.

Baekgwi Jeonseunggi is a book for reading that difference.

#Law - The Usage System of This Book

All data and variants in this volume are laid on top of the co Yoma Bestiary. The Wounds, Defense, Energy, and Domination of existing yoma follow the original text first, and fc08 adds values and rules only in the following four cases.

CaseHandling
Era variantThe mood and small adjustments of Heian, Sengoku, Edo, and the modern age.
Place variantPlace gimmicks such as battlefield, mountain road, well, warehouse, and station.
Enhancement backgroundName, domain, gate, retinue, kaidan proliferation, and human contract.
Yoma PCConverting existing yoma techniques downward into PC class traits.

#Operation - Reading by Chapter

fc08 is structured to be read in stages: quick yoma incidents, Sengoku placement, data variants, long-term adversaries, and the operation of yoma companions and PCs. You may pick and use only the chapters you need, but for yoma PCs and technique conversion, always read chapter 07 together.
