#Quick Reference
Contents
Summary. A one-page reference for a GM or player to run the masterwork and swordsmith rules stably for one scenario without reading all 19 documents of this volume's main text. If it conflicts with the main text, the main text takes priority.
#Fiction Intro — A Single Slip of Paper
Before the battle began, the GM opened a single folded slip of paper instead of a long book. Inside were only links, conditions, and short warnings. See first whether it is a masterwork or a Divine Treasure. Do not forget the ownership condition. The curse comes after the reward.
"Is that one slip enough?" the player asked.
"It is not enough," the GM said. "But everything needed right now is here. The rest you can unfold after the scene begins."
The swordsmith PC peered at the slip. "It says here, 'Do not duplicate-register an existing weapon.'"
"That is the most important thing more often than not," the GM laughed. "If you overwrite a sword that already has a name with a new name, it is not the story but the ledger that gets tangled."
The slip did not swing the sword in one's stead. But when the hand was uncertain, it told which side the scabbard was on. A quick reference is not a document that replaces memory but a handle that holds the scene together so it does not break.

co-04-07-11 - Build: This volume's
fc05-05-01. Not a new class. - Additional traits: This volume's

fc05-05-03. A slot separate from swordsmanship schools.
#Masterwork vs Divine Treasure Determination
§01-02 Checklist. If three or more lean to the Divine Treasure side, it is a Divine Treasure.
| Item | Masterwork | Divine Treasure |
|---|---|---|
| Origin | Swordsmith/human | Deity/great yoma/Spirit Realm |
| Technique slots | 5 | 7 |
| Acquisition | Scenario reward | Bestowed by a god/great yoma, seal release, Spirit Realm relic |
| Price | None/weak | An always-applied blessing or curse |
| Use qualification | License/skill | License/skill + Three Ways and Six Hearts match |
#Prohibitions/Cautions (Absolute Rules)
#Authority/Consistency
- fc05 new data is canon only within fc05. When another fc/ex cites it, treat it as optional material.
- Cannot overwrite
coCanon. Redefining the values of listed masterworks is prohibited. - Cannot overwrite
exCanon either. This volume operates standalone whenexis unused. - Do not create new Divine Treasures. Divine Treasures are the
co-07-03domain.
#Data Writing
- No adding weapon slots. Masterwork slots are 5. Two effects in one slot — combine them conditionally.
- No confusing Energy and Wounds. Energy = action power. Wounds = fatal-injury endurance. No mixed phrasing that uses action-power damage like injury.
- No re-writing values. Listed weapons get a link + commentary.
- Observe the +3 cap. A masterwork technique's +Attack bonus is within +3.
- No blockading the PC. Ownership conditions must be satisfiable by scenario.
#Swordsmith Build
- Do not create a new swordsmith class. The swordsmith is a build of the artisan.
- Do not leave a swordsmanship-school and swordsmith-school slot conflict unaddressed. Separate slots, costs clear.
- Do not neutralize the masterwork-acquisition economy. A swordsmith PC's masterwork crafting does not finish within one scenario — it accumulates by season.
#Curse/Blessing
- A curse is not an automatic punishment. A mechanic of choice.
- A path to recover from a curse is mandatory. One of apology, dedication, re-honing, true-name restoration, or a swordsmith-heir's repair.
- No blockading a PC's class signature. Do not block a swordsman's swordsmanship or a shinobi's infiltration with a curse.
#Devotion (Divine Treasure Only)
- Do not use a devotion on a masterwork. A masterwork has no devotion slot.
- State the Three Ways and Six Hearts match obligation. When running a Divine Treasure, confirm the PC's current Three Ways and Six Hearts.
- It must be clear to the PC that devotion is unusable on a Heart Shift.
#Scenario-Running Quick Reference
#Masterwork Appearance Frequency
- New masterworks per campaign: 1-2 recommended.
- Masterworks acquired by a squad: 1-3 per campaign (main text + new combined).
- Divine Treasure: 1 at the campaign climax.
#Masterwork Stages (Optional)
| Stage | Effect |

| 0 Possession | Basic data, masterwork technique not activated |
| 1 Recognition | Masterwork technique activates |
| 2 Breath Match | Blessing activates |
| 3 The Weight of the Name | Curse eased or Energy -1 |
| 4 The Qualification of Succession | The PC's name is engraved in the anecdote |
The stage system is optional. The main-text consistency is "activate immediately on holding." Decided by the GM according to campaign tone.
#Tenka Goken Alignment (Optional)
| Number of Swords Gathered | Effect |
|---|---|
| 2 | No displayed effect |
| 3 | Auto-purify spiritual taint in the same zone (lull) |
| 4 | An apparition of the fifth sword's location |
| 5 | Tenka Goken Alignment 1 time — they scatter after the scenario |

- Kotetsu (masterwork)
- Ieyasu-no-jinbaori (Divine Treasure)
- Musashi-no-nito (Divine Treasure)
- Naoe-no-shikumi (Divine Treasure)
If 3 or more gather in one place, there is a risk of a time rift.

#Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can a swordsmith PC make a Tenka Goken blade within a scenario? A. No. The Tenka Goken are an inheritance forged in the Heian to Kamakura. The procedure for making a new masterwork is fc05-06-01 — one in the latter half of a campaign.
Q. Can the masterwork techniques of two masterworks both be used in one breath? A. If one holds a Nito-ryu license — the two weapons each have their own per-round counter (co-07-02 § Independence of the Per-Round Counter). However, the one-breath Energy cap remains.
Q. Can a devotion be added to a masterwork? A. No. Devotion is a Divine Treasure slot. Adding a devotion to a masterwork elevates it to a Divine Treasure — outside this volume's authority. To make it a Divine Treasure, the co-07-03 addition procedure.
Q. Can a swordsmith PC hold a swordsmanship school at the same time? A. Yes. But separate slots, with time and skill-point costs. §05-03 § Slot Consistency.
Q. Is a Spirit Realm Wandering Treasure a masterwork or a Divine Treasure? A. Either is possible. Kotetsu is a masterwork; Ieyasu-no-jinbaori, Musashi-no-nito, and Naoe-no-shikumi are Divine Treasures. The [Spirit Realm Wandering Treasure] tag is separate.
Q. What is the priority between this volume's new masterworks and the main-text masterworks? A. The main text takes priority. If there is new data in this volume for the same weapon — that is optional material. It applies only when the GM adopts it in the campaign.
